The Survivalist’s Odds ‘n Sods:

SurvivalBlog presents another edition of The Survivalist’s Odds ‘n Sods— a collection of news bits and pieces that are relevant to the modern survivalist and prepper from “HJL”. Today brings us an enlightening article on path of Genocide. Do you know where the U.S. is on that path?

Fear

Reader H.L. sent in the link to this article on the five most dangerous demands of fear. Excerpt: “It seems the fear is taking over. After all, it’s been such an integral part of our lives for such a long a time now that, sadly, life just wouldn’t feel normal without it.” Some fear is good. It keeps your senses honed to fine edge and can be used as a great motivator to get things done. However, when it begins to control your life, there are some issues.

Second Amendment

Reader G.P. sent in this article on the DOJ’s Operation Choke Point. This is the operation that was intended to crack down on questionable activities like online gambling and “escort” services by choking off their finances. Under the Obama administration, firearms sales were also lumped in their, even though that is a constitutional protected activity and is not questionable at all. Many firearms retailers were either forced out of business or were severely impacted when their financial channels were shut down. Now, however, the DOJ has announced that under the Trump administration, it has ended all activities associated with Operation Choke Point.

Mass Hysteria

Having spent a good portion of my working life in a cubicle, I love Dilbert. It’s one of those comic strips that you have to have experience to really love. My father, on the other hand, always looks at that comic and declares it stupid. He’s never experienced cubical life. The creator of Dilbert, Scott Adams also writes a blog. This week, he has an excellent entry on how to know if you are part of a Mass Hysteria Bubble. The funny thing, is that if you are, you will think that this blog entry is the dumbest thing ever. If you are not, you will smile and laugh, knowing that you are outside the hysteria. It’s worth a read!

Politics

The People’s Republic of Kalifornia is continuing to earn its reputation for dumb legislation. As this article reminds us, they have actually introduced legislation in the past to regulate cow farts in the past. Now, the kookiness continues as Senator Scott Wiener has introduced legislation to make it illegal for any employees of any long-term care facility to willfully and repeatedly use any other name than your preferred name or pronoun. Yep, if a person decides they are a different gender than science says they are, you could go to jail for not calling them by the proper pronoun.

The TSA

From the Department of Homeland Security organization that has a $7.6 billion (yes, with a “b”) budget and has never uncovered or discovered (let alone stopped) any form of terrorism or terrorist activity, yet regularly gropes, violates, steals from travelers comes yet another incident. Traveler David Stavropolous was groped in the Testicles so hard that he now has regular bleeding and faces surgery to correct the issue caused by a TSA agent. This one is on video and even when David asks for a supervisor, the threats and physical assaults continue. This is yet another wasteful, abusive government agency that has got to go.

Genocide

Reader B.F. sent in this article that gives the eight stages of Genocide. It is an interesting path from mild to extreme justification for inhuman crimes and how man has traveled it before. Using late 1930s Germany as an example, the author walks you through the different stages and gives you examples of how they were introduced to Germany. Now compare that to the United States. You may be surprised how far down the list we have already come.

Downtown Seattle

Reader P.S. sent in this quote from a gun-discussion board that he follows. It was posted in an off-topic section:

I started a new job in [downtown] Seattle recently. So here I am on a Friday afternoon walking back to my car in my suit, desperately trying not to rub against anything as I traverse the urine soaked streets, knowing full well that the brown stuff all over the walls is not mud…

What do I see? Maybe 20 yards ahead of me, I witness a homeless guy pull his sweats down, bend over while standing, and violently squirt diarrhea on the wall not once, but twice. It was epic. I wanted to vomit and film it at the same time… It didn’t fall to the ground, no it splashed horizontally more than a foot and a half from where he was standing onto the wall, then proceeded to run down it. As I walked by it and made the mistake of looking at it, I almost blew chunks right then and there.

I am forever scarred by this experience.

It was even worse than being accosted for money by the same few bums repeatedly, with them just yelling “Sir!” louder and louder each time despite my having already said no.

What is the world coming to….It’s been almost a decade since I’ve worked down town. Bellevue is much better. What happened to Seattle??? Sweet mercy…..

News Tips:

Please send your news tips to HJL. (Either via e-mail of via our Contact form.) These are often especially relevant, because they come from folks who watch news that is important to them. Due to their diligence and focus, we benefit from fresh “on target” news. We often “get the scoop” on news that is most likely ignored (or reported late) by mainstream American news outlets. Thanks!

  1. I’ve been saying for years that security staffing is not a long term solution. Sooner or later complacency and boredom sets in and human sin nature will rise to the surface. No what we need is hunter killer teams to find the dangerous people and organizations to exterminate them. TSA is yet another monument to government waste and abuse and should be dropped for airline security staff.

  2. What happened to Seattle? Kshama Sawant and the rest of the Seattle City Council are a big part of it.

Seattle is my home town. It has always had a large left leaning segment. It was a communist party stronghold around the WW1 time frame. I worked downtown in the 70s. It seems you could not walk five paces without passing a communist party poster. The Left Bank, a leftist bookstore, has been a fixture down by the Pike Street Market for years. The statue of Lenin in the Freemont district is decades old. Mayday has been a big event for decades.

Despite all that, there was some libertarian leaning common sense in Seattle until perhaps the last 10 years. I am not sure what happened to drive that away, but I suspect that the rising housing market has driven most blue collar people and most families out of Seattle. It is said there are now more dogs in Seattle than children.

Portland is similar as is much of the I5 corridor even including some parts of small towns. Friends of mine who are touring motorcycle riders report some strange observations in towns like Weed in Northern California. I stopped in Yreka a few years ago and found it a bit spooky along the main street.

A lot of it is drugs which are being actually legalized and practically legalized. IMO the rampant homosexuality might have something to do with it. Seattle and many of these other towns have completely rejected Christian values.

I feel like I am living near Sodom and Gomorrah (Seattle and Portland). In a theological sense, I often wonder if corporate guilt and corporate punishment still exists in the New Testament era? I wonder at what point there will be found not even five righteous men in these cities? And what might happen then?

  3. Pardon my repeat post but I think one more thing about Seattle warrants comment.

Seattle is a very wealthy city. The things that P.S. describes are happening in a current boom town not a place perhaps like Detroit in total collapse.

I am reminded that Sodom and Gomorrah were also described as wealthy cities in the Bible.

My daughter, who is an engineer living north of Seattle, is well plugged in to the economic status of the city has misgivings about the current Seattle economy. She views it much like an old company town reliant on one industry that could collapse and fade away at the drop of a hat. There is a lot of money being thrown around but it is questionable how much profit is being produced. One could look at Amazon as an example. It frequently runs at a loss. And it is more profitable than probably most in Seattle. Microsoft under Bill Gates created real wealth and sustained profits. Most of what is now happening in Seattle is not.

  4. On Genocide,

Over on another blog, someone posted a movie,”start at the 7:00 mark”, [Blog Post Comment].

It is an Age-restricted video and has mass murder and graphic nudity.

What an awful movie, the subject matter, and it totally damaged my calm…

After watching the movie, it is clear that the Soviets taught the Nazis how to efficiently kill people…

And our government has bought billions of S&W 40 rounds….

What is amazing is this film was ever made in Russia, and how would you recruit actors and actresses to star in it…

I had never heard of this movie until the post last week.

    1. Psyche Matters. (2017, July 22). When Victimhood Leads to Genocide – Prof. Jordan Peterson on Dekulakization. [YouTube Video].
      Retrieved from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeYRK16PIlA
      Duration – 7:10

“In this excerpt of his lecture series “Maps of Meaning” psychology professor Jordan Peterson talks about an especially bleak and horrifying but relatively unknown episode in the history of the Soviet Union – the Dekulakization. He points out how enhanced victimization and the concept of class guilt ultimately led to genocide and the starvation of millions of people.”

  5. On the TSA groping, mightn’t using TSA Pre check avoid the vast majority of this stuff? I haven’t flown in 30 years and don’t know I ever will again-although Mrs Spotlight would like to go to Ireland-so I’m not all that up on it but it seems crazy to me that for $85 one could avoid a lot of hassle. If I was to take one flight for some reason I think I’d sign up for it. Am I missing something? Besides that I think TSA is nothing but expensive security theater.

  6. RE: Seattle–this is not a phenomenon limited to that location; it is simply evidence of a high percentage of liberal thinking for a prolonged period of time. You’ll find identical behavior in Austin, TX, where it’s not the homeless that are defecating on Bank of America, but Millennials who are out partying; virtually any college town, or city with a leftist government (I live in one, and the downtown is a ****hole as a result.)

  7. Comment re the Dilbert post: after the McMartin Preschool trials were over, a professional archeologist went to the site to excavate it, to find out whether the mythical “tunnels” were actually there. The place was crawling with journalists and photographers.

He found the entrance to a tunnel the first day. He showed up the next day to continue the dig, but none of the media people were to be seen again, and the story was not reported.

I personally know a child who was molested in a day care center.

Sometimes a hysteria has an equal and opposite hysteria that follows it. The False Memory Syndome hysteria was one of them. Since the FMS organization was founded by a man who married the stepsister he grew up with in their parents home – and both of his daughters disclosed that he had molested them – perhaps something was a little off about it.

I was personally accused of implanting false memories during that period, by the parents of a woman who confronted them with their having abused her. She told them she was seeing a therapist.
She did not mention that she had not yet made her first appointment! It appears that I was capable of implanting false memories into someone I had never met.

The FMS died of too many newspaper articles about yet another teacher/politician/dentist/police officer/principal/you name it who had been arresting for molesting a child.

The McMartin Preschool case was real. I have been involved with false accusation cases, but they do not generally include multiple parents finding blood on their childrens’ underwear.

In general, about five percent of accusations are false. However, most of these are actually true, it is just that the wrong perpetrator is accused; usually a safer and more distant target. I was involved in a case like that also.

  8. Seattle is a dangerous place. Some great people live there but they are overwhelmingly outnumbered by Socialitard fanatics and sexual perverts like their pedophiliac, homosexual prostitute-seeking mayor and their sociopathic city counsel. May God help the police because the city lawyers won’t prosecute and the judges won’t sentence criminals. The Demokrat party still institutionlizes slavery- they use economic slavery to keep people in poverty, always paying too little to live in an area where they schlep packages onto an Amazon conveyer belt or make coffee and wash dishes,,,,,if they feel like working. It’s only 30 days until the Feast of Trumpets. get out there and spread th Gospel of Gods love and salvation, especially to those in places like Seattle and Portland.
