Self-Sufficient Haulout
SurvivalBlog reader T.J. sent in this article on the Quidnon boat about having a self-sufficient haulout capability. There are times when you need your boat out of water. Perhaps you need to do some maintenance or you want to secure it before a hurricane. In any case, having the ability to do the haulout yourself without the help of a major dock is a great advantage.
Immigration
California labor officials are kicking ICE officials to the curb. Labor Commissioner Julie Su has directed her staff to turn away Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents unless they have warrants in hand. California repeatedly demonstrates their disdain of all things conservative.
Satan’s Minions
Planned Parenthood is encouraging parents to teach children as young as four that “their genitals don’t determine their gender”. Is there any question about how the progressive socialist agenda is targeting children? Sadly, many parents can’t grasp how horrible this is. As Reader T.J. states “Anyone talking to their preschooler about any aspect of sex (other than a properly-conducted molestation investigation) should be horsewhipped.”
How I Became a Prepper
Daisy Luther has penned an article on how she became a prepper that is an interesting read. Like most preppers, there is something awful that happened and caused her to be aware of how helpless she was to take care of her family. In her case, it was the loss of a job for her husband while she had a month-old baby. It certainly makes you think. What was your impetus for making the change in your lifestyle?
Corrupt Government
Reader B.B. sent in this article from the Christian Mercenary. How much corrupt government are you willing to tolerate. Our government officials openly flaunt their rebellion to the rule of law. They leak sensitive information to further their own agendas and enable their cronies to to commit crimes against this nation with impunity. As the author says, “All you have to do is one day decide that you are going to make things difficult for those who would gladly and enthusiastically put you in jail and destroy your life for nothing other than coming up against them politically.”

I was recently prepping coax cable for some crimp connectors and after cutting the end off of the cable for the 4th time, I decided there had to be a better way to do this than a razor blade. Coincidentally, I just saw where DX engineering has a new coaxial cable prep tool kit for crimp connectors that contains everything you need to prep cables ends to accept connectors. If you’re working with more than a few connectors or expect to, this may be the solution you need. It’s a specialized tool, but it gets the job done.

We’ve linked to this map before, but it may be time for a refresher with the latest news coming out of North Korea. This is an online simulator where you can pick a target and a yield and determine where the majority of the damage and fallout would occur. You might want to try it on a town or city nearby where you live just to see how you could be affected.
I became prepper minded at the age of fourteen in 1967 while living in Detroit Michigan. During the riots in July of that year, my 18 year old brother and I discovering the single-shot .410 shotgun had no ammo and a bolt action .22 with only five rounds were not confidence inspiring. Come next April when Dr. King was killed and the riots started all over again, my brother was off to college and I was the man of the house. The great Detroit diaspora started then and I vowed after being drafted in 1972 to never again live in a big city, and I never have. Where one chooses to live their life determines a large part of survivability.

Being a ham, I prep and crimp a decent amount of cable. A few years ago I bought Quick Silver Radio’s Andy Crimp Kit for about $100. It includes strippers for large (eg LMR-400) and small (eg RG-8x) diameter coax. I also use Anderson powerpole connectors; the kit includes dies for crimping 15-45amp connectors. I have been satisfied with this kit.

I’ve had to do crimp connectors with nothing more than my Leatherman Wave. It is not nice. But the worst by far is trying to solder a nickel plated PL-259. That will turn you green.
Been there, done that. It’s good to experience it to know that you can do it in a pinch.
The secret to soldering nickel plated PL-259 is a jar of paste flux. It makes a mess, but cleans up with water and/or alcohol. Just don’t do it on your wife’s kitchen table. For the really tough job, you can use acid paste flux, but thorough clean up is mandatory.
No personal trauma to my beginnings. Heard a presentation and had dinner with an insurance agent from Monroe,LA. His story was profound. 16 hour days working elbow to elbow in temp space taking claims, getting help to people. All while his own property was blown away. I resolved to be ready to do my job.
A hurricane up the middle of Georgia lays all wires in the road. Stops all transport for a month. It is my job to be ready.
Then Obamanation arrived with Federal creep and I was off and running.
Actually putting together cable connectors was relatively easy while in the Navy. Even though I did not have to make a whole lot of them, I had a printout showing it and it went very quickly. But now things are somewhat harder as I no longer have the printout.
Regarding Corrupt Government: Right now the elites merely show disdain for the constitutional rights of the common man, but this can morph pretty quickly. See the video below showing the casual slaughter of a young couple in Venezuela by government thugs, in front of hundreds of witnesses. This is what socialism’s end game looks like.

Do you understand that Obama-Care was specifically designed to fail? How else does the USG bring on a single payer health insurance system.
Do you understand that Ryan-Care was designed not to be passed, and that if passed it too was designed to fail? Do you also understand that McConnel-Care was designed not to be passed, and if passed, it too was designed to fail? You see the Neo-Conmen are not opposed to single payer health care. Think about all the power that accrues to the party in power, it doesn’t matter which party, under a single payer health care system. Think about it, literally the power of life and death over the citizens of these united States. If it costs too much to keep you alive, bye-bye.
Do you know what the modern progressive is diligently progressing toward? As I’m sure you all know, totalitarian socialism.
What do the modern liberals liberally do? They work diligently to pull power into Washington in their progress toward totalitarian socialism.
What do the modern conservatives (the Neo-Cons) work to conserve? They work diligently to conserve all that power the the liberals have diligently pulled into central control in their never-ending progress toward totalitarian socialism.
Remember, during the 2012 Republican debates, when Ron Paul talked about the five unconstitutional departments and the countless agencies, bureaus, offices, boards, committees, etc., and the need to eliminate them all?
Mitt Romney came back and effectively said (paraphrased); Oh no we don’t need to get rid of all those departments, agencies, etc., “We just need to manage them better.” A product of Neo-Con central that one.
