December 17th, 1905, was the birth day of Simo Häyhä, who was the world’s most successful sniper. Using an iron-sighted Mosin–Nagant in Finland’s Winter War, he had an astounding 505 confirmed sniper kills. He died April 1st, 2002.

I never understood why the tremendous blast from the muzzle of a Mosin Nagant didn’t reveal the location of Mr. Haya. Maybe he took one shot and boogied.
A side note is that I believe he finally took a shot to his jaw, but then he lived to (what ?)
