On this day in 1977, the Toccoa Falls Dam in Georgia gave way and 39 people died in the resulting flood. The dam was an earthen dam constructed across a canyon in 1887 and had a 55 acre lake that was 180 feet deep. The dam had recently been inspected and approved, but in the early morning hours it gave way. Water flooded down the canyon at speeds approaching 120 mph. Below, residents of the Christian and Missionary Alliance College had no time to evacuate as the small community was wiped out.

  1. In regard to the We’re all losers article, I am responding to the gut, first impression not a thoughtful, mulled, tempered response.
    I am sick of people saying we have to put our “partisan politics” away. What does that mean? Does it mean I can’t demand and desire a more Godly country? One where human life, especially the unborn, informed and elderly are protected and celebrated? A life free from the overbearing police state. A life where my bathroom and laundry fixtures actually produce and release adequate hot water and flush just one time. A life where I am free to go where I please and say what I think.
    Every time I read or hear one of these let’s be reasonable, put aside “your” politics, can’t we all just get along arguments I am angered. What it really means is – why don’t I compromise?
    That is why we are in the mess we are in. Good people compromised. What is going on right now with voter fraud, rioting, etc. is on behalf of an EVIL entity. Compromise is equal to “lukewarm” and we all know what God thinks of that. Christians were part of a rebellion that gave us our freedoms in this country. What if they had compromised their beliefs and moral responsibility. Many good people were killed.
    Today we want peace and to get along with those that wish to enslave us. We want security. We don’t want to rock the boat and make things/life difficult. But the evil does not and will not compromise on what it wants. Our complete subrogation. Our denial of Christ. Our very souls. Our worship of the beast and his minions.
    It is not partisan to want a Godly government, it is not partisan to desire a return to morality. It is not partisan to want good to triumph over evil.

    1. You have to understand this country is a Christian principled nation. It is not for the antichrist principled. There’s no putting our Christian principles aside. By inserting our Christian principles it automatically puts the antichrist principles aside.

      In summary. At one time America was 100% Christian. 1600s. It was founded on Christian principles. The antichrist principled do not belong in our nation. Cuz antichrist principles will tear down a Christ principled nation. It has too. And will. It is treason to be antichrist principled in a Christ principled nation. So don’t ever shut up but toss these treasons to Canada or use your gun and shoot them dead.

      That means different opinion means not enemy, and you´re wrong if you behave not polite and disrespectful to them

Jesus didn’t come here to conform to this world and accept the gay community as being peaceful gays or the pharasies as being greedy money changers or the adulterous as status quo. He didn’t come her to give those folks a cold cup of water nodding and winking at the acceptance of sin. No Jesus’s brothers where those who did his work. He said to his apostles to kick the dust off your feet and cut that soul loose that won’t hear the good news message.

  3. I will not “stick a fork in it.” Christians have compromised for too long. As a result we now have unbridled murder of unborn babies even up to nine months. We have the homosexual agenda shoved down our throats even though they only account for less than 4% of population. Anybody that voices a conservative opinion or fact is shouted down by the “tolerant” left. We have violence and looting in the streets called ” peaceful protests” with few arrests. We have government dictators trampling our God given constitutional rights with complete disregard. The time for compromise is over.

    Now is the time we stand for God and do what He has called us to do.

  4. Understand that I’m not calling for action by my words that follow. I’m only relating an observation I’ve had from my limited study of history.

    Historically, when a new government came into power, or when a neighboring area was conquered, it was customary to execute the members of the preceding government, including every last member of their families. This was done to prevent the remnant from garnering support and rising up against the government in the future. Cruel to be sure, but effective.

    In our own country, there was an uprising in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. Members and organizers of this uprising were apprehended and imprisoned for a number of years. After that, they were released back into society. Had they changed their political views? No. Had their zeal for their cause abated? No. What did they do? They again organized their followers, and then worked their way into positions of authority in government and education, and look what they’ve accomplished!

    Just another one of those “things that may you say Hmmmm.”

          1. It would appear that the Dems have learned that their virtual takeover of MSM has worked and been quite effective. The masses have gotten their “news” from their sanitized and curated Facebook feed, their twitter account that sanctioned anyone, including the President, who dared to not toe the party line, the Dem mouthpiece NYT and WAPO etc. So now that they are poised to totally take over the government, how are alternative viewpoints going to be aired?       I quote without the nuance, and facial expressions that are telling. Wilkerson said: “that if Trump called his based to the streets with their guns…his base owns something like 60 to 70 percent of the 300 to 400 million in America… if they answer that call and come to the streets with guns, then we are probably going to have a need for the military. And then all bets off as to how much blood might flow.”

      I gleaned that Wilkerson was not happy with this prospect. Trucker stated that Wilkerson was “fantasizing” given Wilkerson’s involvement in the Sand Box. Either, or both estimates could have merit.

        Those who value such liberty should be willing to honor the old ones the same way, or be ready to embrace the Chains one of those Old ones talked about. Where I’m at, if the sheriff openly stated that he would derelict his duty, he would not finish the day.
        Depending on how this pans out, the fuse will be lit….and yes- I will ‘suggest something’.

  10. Confidence will forever be shaken in not only our Justice Department, but now our voting system. Think of the precedent that has been established. It is now accepted (bearing the outcome of the court cases) that it is ok to vote by mail in violation of establish election law. No chain of custody, no identification required, no signature guarantee, and something that no-one has mentioned, no duplication prevention. It is entirely likely that some people voted at the polling places, after having sent in their mail ballots, knowing the mail ballots wouldn’t be counted until after the polls closed. There would be no verification the voters had already voted due to the time crunch, the sheer volume of ballots, and the rigging of the counting rooms. Combine that with no postmarks (naked envelopes, envelopes ignored, or outright discarded) and wah-lah, stolen election(s) now, and in perpetuity.

    We as a citizenry need to rise up, speak out, and act if necessary or our Republic will be lost forever.

  11. I have usually supported LE for the important role they play in our Society and abhor the Defund the Police/BLM Marxist movement. However, for any here on SB who have thought that Law Enforcement Officers would refuse unconstitutional or illegal orders, look at what is happening at the convention center in Philadelphia, where LE is refusing to obey a court order, election law or the US Constitution. The Sheriff of Philadelphia said “I am not coming down there to enforce that (court) order and don’t call me back about this again”. This should be a wake up call to everyone. Not all LEO’s will do the right thing, when their paychecks, family livelihood, or jobs are on the line.

    1. You are very, very correct depending on jurisdiction, loyalty and who is providing their paychecks.

      The ultimate question is who/how many LEO’s will enforce gun confiscation. There will be a bunch; but there are many others that will not.

      Most rural LEO’s are Patriots and my close ties to various LE communities indicate that rural area officers will not comply. But I’m fearful we might see the actual percentages in the forseeable future.

    2. I know from personal experience, that most LEO’s, many of whom are former military, will take the paycheck, and do what they are told by whomever is in power. Many of my early supervisors, in a very large Sheriff’s office, where vets. My favorite was a USMC DI (drill instructor). I worked with many Marines, some Army, and a few Air Force. Law Enforcement is a paramilitary organization that invites military organization, discipline, and impartial political attitudes. Once one thinks for themselves, they are usually no longer welcome.

    The leftists are organized, smug, comfortable and feel they own a secure future.

    Truth, Justice and the American Way has evaporated.

    That almost half the sheep citizens voted for it is the big indicator.

    A dynamic figure like Trump doesn’t come along very often.

    I fear the only recourse is to make the leftists uncomfortable.

    The future will bring an increase in lies and deceit. After all, it pays well.
