And carrying 10-50 pounds of gear on long walks is a highly effective way to get into shape, which is essential for optimum living. Given the immense practicality of most of the gear, and the many destabilizing forces at work in today’s world, having a bug-out bag and practicing for a bug-out makes rational sense. If you enjoy backpacking, camping, and the great outdoors, a bug-out bag serves two purposes.
