One of my consulting clients here is the Redoubt just recommended a map protractor dubbed The Super GTA. This is a military style MGRS/UTM coordinate grid reader and protractor. It is clear plastic and about the thickness of a credit card and hence very durable. It is about the size of a CD-ROM. In fact, a deep CD-ROM case–with its center disk-retaining post ground out–is a good way to carry a Super GTA and its instructions.) One thing that amazed my client was that when his order arrived, the protractors were accompanied by very detailed instructions as well as a custom computer-generated Magnetic Declination Reference Card printed on Rite-in-the-Rain paper for his particular locale. (With the lat./long. and declination calculated by the ZIP code of his ordering address!) That is phenomenal customer service. I commend John Carnes of MapTools.com for providing so much useful reference information with his protractors!

  1. Recently, ( last three months of so) SB had an article about a company which sold armor sections for creating safe rooms and the like. I have been unable to locate that article. Does anyone remember it? The company name of the article name would be most appreciated. Also, anyone who has dealt with them I’d appreciate your thoughts. Working on a small safe room. Thanks.

  2. Just a warning on the Valerian movie, I bought it for my kids to watch, but I noticed the PG-13 rating and decided to watch it with them. Good thing! There is quite a bit of unnecessary sexuality including an extended pole dancing scene that got ‘accidentally’ skipped over.
