Here are JWR’s Recommendations of the Week for various media and tools of interest to SurvivalBlog readers. The focus is usually on emergency communications gear, bug out bag gear, books and movies–often with a tie-in to disaster preparedness, and links to “how to” self-sufficiency videos. There are also links to sources for both storage food and storage containers. You will also note an emphasis on history books and historical movies. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. This week the focus is on the recently-released The Bridge on the River Kwai BluRay. (See the Movies section.)

Reader D.B. wrote to mention this new product: BREAK-FREE Collector Long Term Storage Preservative. D.B. notes: “This is advertised for five years of protection. The jury is out, since this is Year One. Their info on testing is convincing enough to have warranted me to try it.
Yoders has a good reputation in the world of canned meats, however I think most preppers
could home can the same amount of product for a lot less money.
I’ve looked at the BreakFree long term CLP many years ago. Haven’t bought any yet, but should try it for the bunker guns. However, I do wipedowns every 90 days, and run a maintenance test fire yearly. I think it might be good for storage, but once SHTF happens, regular CLP would be needed for daily cleaning.
(As per the pic at top, cue whistling the Col. Bogey march………)
Use this resource as a guide for books to review from my local library. If a book is a good fit for our home library after review we buy one for ourselves. Thanks JWR and keep up the good work.
Thank You Reader R.T. for the non-fiction book reference: “Sandworm: A New Era of Cyberwar and the Hunt for the Kremlin’s Most Dangerous Hackers.” I went ahead and bought the audio book through Audible and will go through it over the weekend.
I found from the amazon comments used another reference an actual cyber war in Ukraine: https://darknetdiaries.com/episode/54/ (only 1 hr. long). It also hit Western Companies as well in the USA in June 2017 FedEx and others. (All this is concerning the worm Petya and notPetya).
I find it good listen for technology buffs and those interested in what could happen and could happen again.
