Just for Eye Candy: Planes of Fame airshow 2019 ‘Warbirds’ part 1. JWR’s Comment: I must say that the Spitfire thunderously roaring by a very low pass at the 15:55 mark of the video just about stole the show!

Gear & Grub:

Reader Michael S. wrote me to ask: “I have 1-gallon kerosene containers that I have purchased from Home Depot. The jugs are made from plastic and not suited for long term storage. What do you recommend for long term storage of kerosene?”

I replied: “Steel 1-gallon cans with small screw caps can be ordered by the case, through your local paint store. Unlike plastic jugs, if completely filled, steel cans don’t draw moisture and are not permeable to vapor. Just be sure to place them on top of boards, so that their bottoms don’t rust. (Steel in contact with damp concrete is a no-no.)”

I noticed that the folks at BattlBox (one of our affiliate advertisers) have moved a lot more of their “Past Missions” (monthly field gear/survival gear packages) to their Store page. If you like survivalist gear and gadgets, then you should check out their store. I must warn you that signing up for a monthly box subscription is absolutely addictive! They have four subscription levels, and even the “Basic” level still gets you a great box of gear every month. Subscribing will also make you everyone’s favorite Dad/Uncle/Grandpa on their birthdays, graduation days, Hanukkah, or Christmas. (Hint: No more shopping. You will have a pile of extra knives and goodies by December, each year.)
