“And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.” – 1 Corinthians 2:1-5 (KJV)

How many preachers today live up to this?
Dr Phil Fernandez. Today’s sermon was “I believe, therefore I speak .”. Also Psalms 116.
He is a member of The Black Robe Regiment. He has over 1000 sermons on video. My actual pastor.
You might be surprised. Plenty of good preachers out there in flyover country, faithfully pastoring small community churches, serving the Lord and their congregations with a humble spirit. They don’t get the publicity the megachurch guys do, but they’re still there, serving quietly without a bunch of hoopla. My own pastor being a shining example of this.
As for me, brothers, when I came to you, I did not come with superior speech or wisdom in order to proclaim to you the testimony of God. For I had no intention of knowing anything among you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified. I came to you in weakness, in fear, and with much trembling. My message and my preaching were not marked by persuasive words of human wisdom, but by a demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith would not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power. – 1 Corinthians 2:1-5 (EHV)
