The Editors’ Quote of the Day:

“Yea, Buddy! We know how successful them public-private partnerships are! Think on the public-private mortgage creation motors, Fannie Mae & Freddie Mack. Both belly-upped in 2008, but not before they had glutted the mortgage market with zillions in soggy, sorry, worthless mortgages. Been under federal government receivership ever since.

Or what about another public-private partnership success, the Federal Reserve System? Now in fact it ain’t federal, and it hath no reserve, and there ain’t even much system about it. But like putting lipstick on a sow, they gussied it up in 1913 with a Board of Governors that the president appoints. The bank itself and the regional banks are privately owned by — the banks. Now there’s a set-up immune to conflict of interest, by golly! Anyhow, since 1913 the Fed and its banking cartel have been lapping, sucking, and slurping the blood out of the American economy wholesale. Another public-private partnership success!

So far Trump has done nothing but wave the same old failed nostrums at the economy. Nothing new proposed, and certainly no measure that would go to the heart of economic & political problems, like restoring gold & silver money, abolishing the Federal Reserve, prosecuting criminal Big Banks & their officers, or restoring the rule of law generally. Mercy, he isn’t even talking about stopping the ‘perpetual war for perpetual peace’ keystone of the US economy, but is proposing MORE ‘defense’ spending.” – Franklin Sanders (from a March 2017 interview.)

  1. Well said, I’m sure there are many many of us out here in hinterland with the same convictions/sentiments. If you really want to know who controls the finances in this country, simply follow the money….. And remember, if you ain’t got it in your pocket, you don’t have it. Never give up the right to use cash, ever……

Saagar Enjeti: GOP Civil War IS COMING, Here’s How Corporate R’s Can Be Defeated

    The Hill
    August 27, 2020

Saagar Enjeti predicts an internal war in the Republican Party regardless of whether Donald Trump wins or loses the election.

    1. …”internal war in the Republican Party regardless of whether Donald Trump wins or loses the election.”

There has been an internal war within the Republican party since before Trump announced in 2015. The neocon warmongers, so far, have lost that war. Victor Davis Hanson, on Laura Ingraham’s Fox News show, finally stated the words no one wanted to hear: “This is not the Republican party of Mitt Romney, Lindsey Graham, or John McCain any longer. This is the party of Donald Trump. It’s a ‘conservative, populist, worker’s party’, not the party of the neocons and the elites.” He also reminded the audience that Hillary Clinton is also a neocon.

This is why you see the Republican neocon elites actually endorsing Dementia Joe Biden. Our enemies, like the maggots they are, are looking to feed on the carcass of the Democrat party just as they have the Republican party for the past 60 or 70 years. Good riddance to bad rubbish!

      1. ”internal war in the Republican Party regardless of whether Donald Trump wins or loses the election.”

“This is not the Republican party of Mitt Romney, Lindsey Graham, or John McCain any longer. This is the party of Donald Trump. It’s a ‘conservative, populist, worker’s party’, not the party of the neocons and the elites.”

I wish. Saagar’s point was that Trump talks a good populist message, but is not interested in actual governing so the neocons and elite where more than happy to do that for him.

Unfortunately, the minds of conservatives have a predictable habit of getting caught in the ideological traps that were set 70 to 40 years ago …

        – All taxation is theft.

        – If you’re not succeeding in America, it’s because of some moral failing on your part.

        – Inequality? Any amount is OK, as long as it is achieved through purely capitalist means.

        – Money to influence politics is free speech

        – – unless it’s Bloomberg or Soros

        – The gulags were bad, therefore corporations and the ūber wealthy should be allowed to do whatever they can get away with.

        – – because only a Communist would diss the Job Creatorz ™

        – Corporations should have same rights as individuals under the constitution; only a commie idiot would suggest otherwise

        – Individual workers have the same power in the marketplace that corporations do

        – – individual workers are free to go work wherever they want.

        – – – except for the workers who are “forced” to join labor unions as a condition of employment, so we need government regulation to interfere in mandatory membership labor union contracts.

        – All regulation is bad because, Socialism! Socializzzzmmmm!

        – – except regulation of internet companies with Leftist bias

        – etc. etc.

… even among readers of this web site. There is a very good chance that the Republican Party will continue to be the same party of neocons and elites.

And like Charlie Brown repeatedly trying to kick the football out of Lucy’s hand, we will fall for it over and over and over and over again.

        1. Your insight. Well said, Anon. I am copying this.

I go with something I found minutes ago: “Conservatism starts from a sentiment that all mature people can readily share: the sentiment that good things are easily destroyed, but not easily created. This is especially true of the good things that come to us as collective assets: peace, freedom, law, civility, public spirit, the security of property and family life, in all of which we depend on the cooperation of others while having no means singlehandedly to obtain it. In respect of such things, the work of destruction is quick, easy and exhilarating; the work of creation slow, laborious and dull. That is one of the lessons of the twentieth century. It is also one reason why conservatives suffer such a disadvantage when it comes to public opinion. Their position is true but boring, that of their opponents exciting but false.”
          ― Roger Scruton

          Carry on in grace

  3. There is so much wrong with your interpretation of things, so a little correction is in order.

….”Trump talks a good populist message, but is not interested in actual governing so the neocons and elite where more than happy to do that for him.”

What planet are you from? Trump is not interested in governing? Really? Again, what planet are you from. Trump is not a dictator so he must hire the underlings that actually perform the work. He has picked a few neocons, or a few neocons have been recommended to him, if you hadn’t noticed, he routinely FIRES those same neocons who do not cooperate with his agenda, or those like John Bolton who have actually worked to sabotage his agenda. We’ll see what happens with Mike Pompeo, so far he has been ….cooperative. Sadly I don’t see him firing Ivanka or Jared Kushner, however he has had a very high turnover rate, so who knows.

“Unfortunately, the minds of conservatives have a predictable habit of getting caught in the ideological traps that were set 70 to 40 years ago …”

That would be the beginning of the neoconservative movement. That would be the Trotskyist neoconservative movement. So stop lumping all conservatives together under one big communist tent, neoconservatives are not conservative. Most of us have long ago seen and avoided those traps.

    “– All taxation is theft.”

Amen and Amen. Of course, all taxation is theft. That is not a neoconservative mantra, it is actually old-right conservatism, that would also be right-libertarians. So stop lumping all libertarians together as well. The Libertarian Party is NOT libertarian. If you don’t know the difference, do your homework. I’ll take things one step further: taxation is SLAVERY. If I don’t own my labor, I am a slave. If you don’t own your labor, you are a slave. The product of my labor is not the car, the coil of steel, the house I help build, or even that bag of groceries I help fill. The product of my labor is that paycheck at the end of the week. Nazi Pelosi has called me and you and every other working person “wage slaves”. I have never been a slave to any company I have worked for. Those companies have never owned me or my labor, they only rent my labor. I and every other person who has monies taken from their paycheck before ever seeing that money are slaves, a slave to the state, Nazi Pelosi’s slave.

“– If you’re not succeeding in America, it’s because of some moral failing on your part.”

Again, you got that wrong. The moral failing mantra is part and parcel to the socialist/neoconservative agenda. The reason some do not succeed in America is because of the socialist/neoconservative public school system. People aren’t given the tools for success. We are supposed to get those tools as a basic part of our education. It’s not happening. In many cases, it’s not even the teacher’s fault, they too have mouths to feed and a life to live and fear in their hearts. They are slaves too. You know it’s bad when college professors are openly stating that 2+2=4 is “white privilege”. Mathematics now only depends on your point of view. Our young are being taught that the English language, mathematics, science, the ability to put thoughts to paper in a coherent manner, is racist. The socialist/neoconservative agenda has actively destroyed education in America. Socialism/neoconservatism is racist to the core. The conservatives/libertarians I know, want their children well educated, not well indoctrinated.

“– Inequality? Any amount is OK, as long as it is achieved through purely capitalist means.”

All humans are created equal; nekked, helpless, and dependent. It doesn’t matter if you were born in the Hamptons or the poorest village in Somalia, we all start out equal. You are not talking about “inequality”, no two people have lives that are equal, unless you live in a communist utopia. The term to define the agenda is egalitarian, the idea that the state should dictate, as in dictatorship, that all people should have equal outcomes instead of equal opportunities. Egalitarianism is evil incarnate. In order to gain the goal of “equality” government must choose the lowest common denominator in society and bring the majority down to that level. At the same time the elitist, socialist/neoconservative, ruling class is further made very unequal. Egalitarianism always leads to even greater inequality, always and without fail. This has nothing to do with capitalism, nothing at all. Along with a real education, capitalism improves the lives of everyone it touches. The corporatism, socialism, you are actually talking about does not, and never will

“– Money to influence politics is free speech”

No, that would be bribery. Actual conservatives recognize this fact, as do most of the people who read this site. Oh, by the way, bribery is also a crime. The donors and the recipients of that bribery should be in jail.

    “– – unless it’s Bloomberg or Soros”

Yep, criminals writ large. Let’s add Charles Koch, the Rockefellers, the Morgans, and the Rothschilds to this gang of criminals. Oh wait, let’s also not for get Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Dorcey, and Sundar Pachai, they are part of that criminal class of elitists.

“– The gulags were bad, therefore corporations and the ūber wealthy should be allowed to do whatever they can get away with.”

Huh? I don’t even know where this comes from. Yes gulags were bad. What does that have to do with corporations and the uber wealthy? If the corporations and the uber wealthy are doing bad, evil, things, they should be IN the gulags.

“– – because only a Communist would diss the Job Creatorz ™”

Again, Huh? Communists believe that only government can create jobs. Government only creates jobs within government. The real job creators in our society are the small businesses. Many of those small businesses are also corporations. They are routinely ignored by the elitist political class. I see a lot of support for small business on SB.

“– Corporations should have same rights as individuals under the constitution; only a commie idiot would suggest otherwise”

Of course not. You know I’ve read our constitution, I can’t find where corporations are people. Again, the socialist/fascist/neoconservative/neoliberal cabal that runs Washington DC are the only ones who seem to be able to find that in our constitution. I don’t hear that from actual conservatives or libertarians.

“– Individual workers have the same power in the marketplace that corporations do”

Not even the neocons have said anything like that.

–” – individual workers are free to go work wherever they want.”

As long as the company that they have applied to is voluntarily willing to accept that worker as an employee. It is a two-way street.

“– – – except for the workers who are “forced” to join labor unions as a condition of employment, so we need government regulation to interfere in mandatory membership labor union contracts.”

Workers (I hate that term, it is so …socialist.) Should not be forced to join a union as a condition of employment. That being said, if a company treats it’s employees so badly that a union is necessary, then joining the union is probably a good idea. And, no, government should not get in the middle of that relationship unless there is criminality involved. The UAW is in a heap of trouble right about now.

“– All regulation is bad because, Socialism! Socializzzzmmmm!”

All regulation that puts government, the state, into interference in the free market is bad. It’s not because it’s socialistic, it’s because it destroys the free market, competition, and thereby destroys actual capitalism.

“– – except regulation of internet companies with Leftist bias”

You don’t get to advertise as being a free and open platform, with all the privileges, and protections of being a platform rather than being a publisher and then censor your platform as if you were the publisher. They actually don’t have the right to an opinion on what is published on their platforms. Facebook, Twitter, and Google want the rights of a publisher, a newspaper, and the privilege of a platform provider. They demand the right to interfere in the free market of ideas, so only their ideas matter. Whether they get regulated or not is up to them.

    “– etc. etc.”

    Yep, etc, etc.

“… even among readers of this web site. There is a very good chance that the Republican Party will continue to be the same party of neocons and elites.”

I don’t find a whole lot of neocons and elitists on this web site. I do find a whole lot of people who are critical of the Republican party. These are people who expect better of the Republicans than the party has given us in the past. I have been skeptical of the Republican party, but I also see the changes that have happened over the past 4 years. That change needs to continue. We’ll see.

“And like Charlie Brown repeatedly trying to kick the football out of Lucy’s hand, we will fall for it over and over and over and over again.”

You haven’t been on this site very long if you actually believe that.
