That is the essence of politics my friend. What you call lies they call diplomacy. Murder on a small scale or large scale…It has been going on for ever. There is nothing new under the sun.
Endlessly fascinating to me that, when reading Orwell we must never forget that he was a self-identifying *devout* militant-socialist in the truest sense. Yet his life’s most important work focuses squarely on the profoundly sick communist movement, which swept the globe and betrayed millions of devoted socialists like himself in the Spanish civil war. Orwell’s sick devotion to his grossly-oppressive philosophy left him with no self-awareness whatsoever of the best friend he ever had: the capitalist West.
What a world.
