To be prepared for a crisis, every Prepper must establish goals and make long-term and short-term plans. In this column, the SurvivalBlog editors review their week’s prep activities and planned prep activities for the coming week. These range from healthcare and gear purchases to gardening, ranch improvements, bug out bag fine-tuning, and food storage. This is something akin to our Retreat Owner Profiles, but written incrementally and in detail, throughout the year. We always welcome you to share your own successes and wisdom in your e-mailed letters. We post many of those –or excerpts thereof — in this column, in the Odds ‘n Sods Column, and in the Snippets column. Let’s keep busy and be ready!
Jim Reports:
I’ve been on the road since Wednesday, gathering inventory for my antique gun biz. The Elk Creek Company shopping cart system has been put on hiatus, until my return. That should be on or about March 3rd.
To clarify my post from last week: On February 16th, I received a letter from the branch manager of the West Liberty Branch of Nevada State Bank in Reno, informing me that she was closing my account. This was an account that I’d had held for nearly 20 years. It was a shock to suddenly and unexpectedly be “de-banked” by Nevada State Bank. They closed my account with no reason given, and the branch manager has not returned my calls. I suspect that it was because I’m publicly outspoken on a number of issues. This incident is just one more evidence that we are living in the age of deception and betrayal.
Avalanche Lily Reports:
Dear Readers,
We’ve had a beautifully sunny albeit very cold week.
Our illness got worse over the weekend with fevers major stuffiness and sleepless nights, I pulled two all-nighters with this cold and a third night of intermittent sleep. I thought that it was from the anxiety of Miss Eloise flying the coop, but a friend of mine, also became sick a few days later and reported sleepless nights with anxiety from this cold. Even though we didn’t lose our sense of smell, we decided to take five days’ worth of Ivermectin, just to be safe. (Along with beaucoup, plenty of D3, Zinc, and garlic steam. As of now, I just have a very tickly dry cough, but feel much better, now than at the beginning of the week. On the worst night we fell asleep early, fever, with thick runny noses. Around ten thirty, I came out of sleep choking and sputtering with the phlegm and the most horrible garlic smell, hearing Jim muttering, “You have got to be kidding: adding insult to injury” A skunk had gone off outside our garden porch, Awful! Even four days later the smell is bad inside the house. I hate those things!
Except for the basic maintenance chores, keeping all creatures well-fed, we had a very quiet, not very productive week.
At the end of the week, we went to visit oldest son and the grandkids, our newest grandchild. What a beautiful baby, the “Fruit of the womb”. 😉 They are a beautiful family and such wonderful, excellent parents. Those children are so blessed.
I am now reading in Genesis Chapter 47 and I listened to the book of Isaiah.
Continue prepping.
There is speculation from many quarters that this war in Ukraine could conceivably go worldwide, and even come to Mainland USA… Top off your preps. And please say a prayer for the people of Ukraine.
May you all have a very blessed and safe week.
