Rebalancing Your Gun Collection for the Uncertain Days Ahead

With the upcoming presidential election, American gun owners are facing a time of great uncertainty. If Hitlery Clinton is elected, it is anticipated that she will not only issue a large number of anti-gun executive orders but during her term in office she will also appoint several ultra-liberal Supreme Court justices. That would dramatically alter the balance of the court. These frightening prospects have prompted many gun owners to increase the size of their collections and readjust their composition. As recent gun sales statistics attest, people are definitely stocking up. This news is not evidence of paranoia. It is simply …

Seeking Reader Input: SurvivalBlog’s Orwell Awards

The recent news about how the FBI filed a lawsuit to block disclosure of surveillance camera locations because it would “violate the privacy” of those surveilled has prompted the editors of SurvivalBlog to start a new awards contest for the most egregious examples of Orwellian Newspeak in the past year. This is in part to remind our readers of the prescience of George Orwell, in his novel 1984. We intend to issue these awards annually (like the Darwin Awards) each July 4th, and post descriptions and links for the top three examples, as well as for several Dishonorable Mention awards, …

No Fly = No Buy? No Way!

In the aftermath of the recent Orlando terrorist attack, the leftist mass media seems to have latched onto using either the Terror Watch List or the No Fly List as a panacea to stop terrorists from obtaining guns. Jim’s Quote of the Day:

“Is that one of those new hundreds? You know, where they changed the picture of Ben Franklin? Look at him, yeah. He looks like the love child of-of, uh, Fred Mertz and Rosie O’Donnell! Yeah, that’s him, yeah. Get rid of it as soon as you can, lady. Look at it up in the light. You see that metal strip? That’s a tracking device!” – Mel Gibson as Jerry Fletcher, in Conspiracy Theory. (Screenplay by Brian Helgeland.)

Jim’s Quote of the Day:

“You really don’t understand. We don’t worry about individuals. What counts is that many millions of people have the knowledge that they can go to a weapon shop if they want to protect themselves and their families. And, even more important, the forces that would normally try to enslave them are restrained by the conviction that it is dangerous to press people too far. And so a great balance has been struck between those who govern and those who are governed.” – A.E. Van Vogt, The Weapons Shops of Isher
