BMW riders rally, take in Grant County sights. A snippet:
“Bruce Choy of Redwood City, California, who arrived Thursday afternoon, said it was his sixth time attending the event.
He said the Silicon Valley is congested for a reason, and he enjoys leaving the traffic behind for the rally.
His favorite route, he said, is simply driving his BMW R1150R from northern California to Burns, Seneca and on to John Day.
“For two hours, I’d be riding and not see one vehicle,” he said.
He recalled seeing a bicyclist in the Silvies Valley and waving, because it was the first human he’d passed in a while.”

Reader Dr. Marc wrote to mention Cougar Gold canned cheese:
“Many of your readers are likely familiar with Red Feather canned butter and Bega cheese. Both of these products have extended shelf lives and do not require refrigeration. I find the butter extremely good quality. The cheese reminds me more of a Velveeta-like cheddar. I keep both in my pantry.

Re. ‘Patriotism’ in America
This article is a testimony to government indoctrination.
Americans believe they are free because they vote and that the US Military are ‘Protectors of freedom’.
Neither could be further from the truth.
Amen Brother!
These poor saps are not fighting for their country. They are not dying for their country. They are fighting and dying for the globalists in both political parties. They are fighting and dying so AOC and her “squad” can subvert everything that once actually made America great. They are fighting and dying so the Israelis and the Saudis don’t have to.
Next is the war that is coming with Iran. American young men and women will be dying again, by the thousands or tens of thousands, not for their country, but for the globalist neocons, the globalist democratic socialists, for the Brits, and the Israelis, and the Saudis, and the Emirates, and the Kuwaitis, and every other country and perverse idealism on the planet. But they won’t be dying for America or love of country or anything else that might make their sacrifice of life and limb in any way noble.
I wasn’t fighting for America in Vietnam, and these young people aren’t fighting for America today, regardless the propaganda. They damn sure are not fighting for me. I wholeheartedly disapprove, in advance.
Charles K. ,
I share the same sentiments on today’s military. Vietnam was a huge moneymaker for the globalists at the expense of over 50,000 young American lives. ‘Rules of engagement ” , you fight to win by killing the enemy, not by using a rulebook. Afghanistan is the longest war our country has ever been involved in. The United States is obviously not the most powerful nation on earth or we would have been out of there long ago. i am afraid there is far too much money being made by prolonging the Afghanistan fiasco.
Sad times in our country for sure.
Is it, at this point, more patriot to rebel against our government or to “support the troops?” Whatever that means.
Fred, it is if one believes that the inalienable rights delineated in our Declaration of Independence apply to the millions of innocent people on foreign soil who have been murdered, maimed or displaced in 18 years of perpetual wars.
The DOI applies to Natural Born Americans, I suppose the Natural Law principles to be universal, but, and it’s a big but, God’s laws of righteous self defense, laws of righteous nation warfare apply to all of creation. Where any nation kills those that are no actual threat to it, this is unjust, a violation of God’s law. And, it’s a big and, the fedgov had as it’s charter to protect the Nation, not keep individuals safe, otherwise, if the goal was purely some notion of safety how could it institute a draft for the raising of armies and navies and send men to their deaths for the national defense? (I ask rhetorically) America is handed over to the devil and judgement for violation of God’s Covenants is coming due. I’m not claiming any specific knowledge, merely, my Holy Bible discusses these instances at length and from it, it’s easy to see that a holy reckoning is due. And the nation is drenched in the blood of 70 million dead babies. We will not, again my bible says so, wiggle our way out this.
Peace be unto you and yours, while it lasts.
Fred, thank you for your valuable input. This thread is getting long so this will be my last comment.
I think we both agree that our Founders believed (and stated) that the inalienable rights of “Life Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” in the DOI are endowed to all people of the world. This includes the millions of innocent people on foreign soil who have been murdered, maimed or displaced in 18 years by the US military
This is a Founding Principle of America. Yet today’s out-of-control US military hold themselves above it. They have no respect for this principle. Julian Assange’s video revealed this truth and for that he will rot in a US prison for the rest of his life.
In closing I stand by my original comment. Saying that the US Military are ‘Protectors of freedom’ could not be further from the truth.
According to their website the WSU Creamery is sold out and has no cheeses of any type available. Unfortunate. I was looking forward to trying their products.
I just checked the website and found all available. There is an 8 can limit per month on the particular cheese featured in this article.
I call BS on the 2019 Most Patriot States article. I have to wonder why enlisting in the military means a person is patriotic. It MAY mean he is patriotic or it may mean that it’s hard for him to find a good job in that particular loser state so the person joins the military simply as a source of income. Or it may mean that the person is a goofball that has been encouraged to join up so he can learn self discipline and become somebody. Or maybe he wants to join simply for the adventure factor.
I would love to think that people join the armed services because they love their country and want to “fight for our freedom” but in reality that’s not always the case. And there is nothing wrong what so ever in a person joining for the above stated reasons but let’s just be clear that military enlistment and patriotism don’t necessarily go hand in hand so the article really means nothing to me.
And I also don’t see why volunteering for some human cause like the Peace Corps could possibly mean a person is patriotic. How does volunteering to help your fellow man mean that you love America? To me it just means that that person is a good moral person who is trying to do good for mankind, but that doesn’t make him patriotic, it just makes him GOOD.
I was wounded twice in Vietnam. For WHAT? So I could limp the rest of my life?
Oh great, I get disability. Let’s end this nonsense and quit making the “elite”
rich
About serving in the Peace Corps as patriotic service for the USA. … In some cultures around the world, a woman can become a target for rape, by her clothing, the way she acts, and even her religious beliefs (or non-belief).
The ‘official’ numbers for rape occurrences is on the >Internet, while participating in the Peace Corps.
……. While I was attending a Protestant Summer Camp for high school kids, a minister spoke a few words about the Peace Corps. “It’s good for people to help their neighbors, and the Peace Corps is a good example of that.”
……. The minister then said, “We all remember Jane-Doe from our Church family.” “We’re now going to separate into two groups. The boys are going with me and the other men.” ~~ “The girls, and the women will meet with Jane-Doe (for a secret-secret meeting), for a discussion about her time in the Peace Corps.”
Jane-Doe joined the Peace Corps after graduating from college. = Needless to say, she was one of the women Peace Corps Volunteers that got raped, while overseas in a foreign country. … … Subsequent needed counseling and medical care for Peace Corps veterans is just what’s available to any other person in the USA.
********************************************************************
There are cultural and religious reasons especially in foreign countries, that make rape an extreme danger to women in the Peace Corps. … Plus, there are completely demonic men in other countries. For example see Wikipedia: ~Virgin cleansing myth~
“The virgin cleansing myth (also referred to as the virgin cure myth, virgin rape myth, or simply virgin myth) is the belief that having sex with a virgin girl cures a man of HIV/AIDS or other sexually transmitted diseases.”
I love reading these comments. It shows that common sense is still alive and well in America. I suspect that, to a man and woman, if some country actually physically staged and armed invasion of the good old USA we’d all grab our guns and our gear and put the fear of God and the fear of the American people into our invaders.
In WW2 the Japanese knew they would never go to war on American soil. They knew they would find “a man with a rifle behind every blade of grass”. A truly unwinnable war. So I say Bring It On! But until some country launches and armed invasion of America, there are literally no JUST wars for we Americans to fight.
I just found out about the WSU cheeses recently got 8 cans, keep it in the fridge. My dad and I can say it’s one of the best !
