To be prepared for a crisis, every Prepper must establish goals and make long-term and short-term plans. In this column, the SurvivalBlog editors review their week’s prep activities and planned prep activities for the coming week. These range from healthcare and gear purchases to gardening, ranch improvements, bug out bag fine-tuning, and food storage. This is something akin to our Retreat Owner Profiles, but written incrementally and in detail, throughout the year. We always welcome you to share your own successes and wisdom in your e-mailed letters. We post many of those –or excerpts thereof — in this column, in the Odds ‘n Sods Column, and in the Snippets column. Let’s keep busy and be ready!
Jim Reports:
I just had another quiet week, out of state. I found a couple of more antique guns, that I’ll be adding to Elk Creek Company catalog. This week I also had the pleasure of delivering one antique gun order, in person. The timing just happened to work out, and the buyer propitiously lives less than 30 miles from where I’m staying. On that same trip, I dropped off a half-dozen pre-1927 books for scanning. Those will be bonus items for next year’s edition of the SurvivaBlog archive USB stick.
I’m anxious to get home to the ranch. But I must remind myself: Patience, patience…
Now, let’s hear from Lily.
Avalanche Lily Reports:
Dear Readers,
This week was quite cool and cloudy with some showers, in the high sixties, and low seventies.
The weekend and the beginning of the week found me still very tired from the cold, so I rested a lot over the weekend. By Monday, I was feeling much much better and rested.
Last week, the Neighbor had transported a number of buckets of clay soil for us to a certain area and had spread it out with his bucket. There were still some uneven places that I wanted further smoothed, so I transported five wheelbarrows full of clay soil and raked and smoothed out the area. I then added a general fertilizer and broadcasted nearly twenty-five pounds of pasture grass seed.
In the Left annex garden, I prepared and planted five more mounded rows of the rest of the seed potatoes I had, and one of which was a row of organic Kennebec potatoes that my mother bought and sent to me from New England. Thanks, Mom!
I mowed the paths of the Main garden.
We have an old hand scythe that I took down to the orchard and began cutting our jungle grass for hay for the cows in the corral. They very much appreciated eating the fresh-cut hay.
I canned fourteen quart jars of water.
Wild Critter Report: One evening this week, around 9:30 PM. I was reclining on our bed looking out the double glass sliding doors on one wall of our bedroom thinking on whether or not I was ready to get ready to go to sleep or was there something else that I needed to do? Our bed is situated just a foot away from the doors and from my pillow, I can see the slopes and top of the Unnamed Mountain across The Unnamed River. I was watching the Alpenglow of a particularly beautiful sunset creep up its slopes. I often enjoy reclining on our bed just staring at its slopes and summit. As I was observing the light changes on the mountain, a quick flash of white caught my eye at the “bottom” of the bed. I sat up and looked out into the open meadows. I saw a Bald Eagle swooping low over our meadow with a crow hot on its tail. The horses and bull were further out in the meadow. The Bald Eagle flew swooping, back and forth between me and them about five times with the crow chasing it before it continued flying down the meadow out of my view with the crows in hot pursuit. The Bull and the horses didn’t even seem to notice the drama. The crows have nests and raise a clutch of young in our trees along our north fence line, every summer. The Bald eagle came from the north and must’ve been invading the crow’s nesting area arousing their ire to give it chase out of their territory. A few days later I saw the crows also chase a large raven out of their territory.
I have been studying Psalms 38- 51 translating Hebrew and doing word studies on the Hebrew words that I’m not familiar with, looking up their definitions according to Strong’s, Brown-Driver-Brigg’s and the Ancient Hebrew, all very interesting. I have also recently listened to John chapters 5-7 in Hebrew.
News of coming “attractions” to the USA Cannot buy or sell, participate in the economic system without the “Mark” Revelation 13, 14, 19: Pakistan Blocking SIM cards for those refusing the kill shot!
This Giant reminds me of the giant statute in the Book of Daniel…
We are living in the very last days of this age! God’s word is true! What He has said will happen, will be happening, very shortly! His word will not come back void! If you don’t believe His Word and what it says, It’s warnings, you’ll suffer for eternity. If you believe His word and repent of your sins and believe on the Lord Jesus, He will save you from Father God’s Wrath at the end of the Age.
Keep studying God’s Word and Prepping!
May you all have a very blessed and safe week.
