Oh, Trekker, you truth teller. We allow ourselves to be distracted by sports and other entertainment. The works of active citizenship comes first. Then, sit down and enjoy the game/concert.
Now, of course, with these words I hold a mirror up to myself. So, tomorrow, I commit to giving an hour after a dental appointment to making the important phone calls.

As much as I love the Honorable Ron Paul… there is no ink on paper that will keep man from seeking his own power by reducing the the rights of others. And a government is just a curtain for those same to hide behind.

For many people, the US Constitution is actually a “living” document, that has “evolved” into a Santa Claus, providing the ‘things’ they want in this world.
The US Constitution is no longer a document limiting the scope and powers of the Federal Government.
The basic rights of mankind no longer understood as coming from a ‘creator’ in Heaven. Now ‘things and rights’ come from our Government Leaders, if people shout loud enough.

The words in the preamble of the US Constitution, “… insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty…” = … has come to mean >No guns for private citizens, free tranquilizing drugs, BIG Welfare checks, plus many other freebies which should be provided by the government.
[The word government just means the entity in charge; i.e. local, State or Federal.]

It does seem sometimes, that in the last few years many Americans have developed their own unique language, and started thinking with completely alien brainwaves.
Dr Ron Paul MD is a very smart man. Doctor Ron Paul would understand how many people are just using the US Constitution [NOT as a US Government limiting document], but rather using the Constitution, as a vehicle to gain more free stuff, and oppress people they don’t like.
The quote lacks context. I believe Ron Paul’s statement was intended to challenge us to think and consider that the Constitution alone is not enough to preserve liberty. Where there is the spirit of the Lord, there is freedom. It was the people who, lacking the fear of God and having no discernment, sold out. This is been a problem since the beginning:

I agree with all, it is not the goobermints fault, the fault lies in us the people. We have failed not only to keep our elected officials in check, but we have failed each other in that same regard. The Founders created a government for a “Moral and Educated People, it is insufficient for any other.” From either Franklin or Adams, I forget which.
We have chosen this path because we have chosen to remove ourselves from Gods Guiding Light. The further we get from that guiding light and the principles in it, the faster the decline becomes. Think about it, and think about how history is unfolding from only 10 years ago until present……
