SurvivalBlog’s News From The American Redoubt

This weekly column features news stories and event announcements from around the American Redoubt region. (Idaho, Montana, eastern Oregon, eastern Washington, and Wyoming.) Much of the region is also more commonly known as The Inland Northwest. We also mention companies located in the American Redoubt region that are of interest to preppers and survivalists. Today, news about Idaho’s new immigration enforcement law.

Idaho

U.S. district judge temporarily blocks Idaho immigration enforcement law hours after it’s signed. The aricle begins:

“Hours after Governor Brad Little signed into law a controversial immigration enforcement bill, a United States district judge granted a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) blocking the enforcement of the law.

Judge Amanda K. Brailsford of the United States District Court for the District of Idaho granted the TRO in response to a lawsuit by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Idaho over House Bill 83.

House Bill 83 requires law enforcement to focus on illegal immigrants who are detained, investigated, or suspected of criminal activity, through which officers would record the documentation status of individuals arrested throughout their normal police work.”

Montana Governor signs new laws on bathrooms and women’s sports. Here is a pericope:

House Bill 121, known as the “Bathroom Bill,” mandates that multi-occupancy restrooms, changing rooms, and sleeping quarters be designated for exclusive use based on biological sex at birth.

House Bill 300, also signed into law, focuses on maintaining fairness in women’s sports. This legislation makes it unlawful for educational institutions to allow male individuals to participate in athletic programs designated for females.

Governor Gianforte’s actions align with a previous executive order by President Trump aimed at preserving the integrity of women’s sports. In a statement, Riley Gaines, host of OutKick’s Gaines for Girls podcast, praised the governor’s leadership.”

Record numbers of adult Deschutes River steelhead pass upstream of Round Butte Dam. An excerpt:

“Record numbers of nearly 1,000 adult steelhead returned to the Pelton Round Butte hydropower project on the Deschutes River during the 2024-2025 run, which ends this month, Portland General Electric and the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs reported Thursday.

With more than 950 fish passed upstream of Round Butte Dam, the Upper Deschutes Basin is now home to more steelhead than at any time since the 1960s, the utility and tribes said. Scientists attribute this year’s returns to beneficial ocean conditions and improvements in fish management practices.”
