  1. Was the anniversary today of the assassination of Federico Lorca what reminded you of the Spanish Civil War books?

Federico del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús García Lorca[1] (Spanish pronunciation: [feðeˈɾiko ðel saˈɣɾaðo koɾaˈθon de xeˈsuz ɣaɾˈθi.a ˈloɾka]; 5 June 1898 – 19 August 1936), known as Federico García Lorca[a] (English: /ɡɑːrˌsiːə ˈlɔːrkə/ gar-SEE-ə LOR-kə), was a Spanish poet, playwright, and theatre director.

García Lorca achieved international recognition as an emblematic member of the Generation of ’27, a group consisting of mostly poets who introduced the tenets of European movements (such as symbolism, futurism, and surrealism) into Spanish literature.[2][3] He is believed to have been killed by Nationalist forces at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War.[4][5][6][7][8] His remains have never been found.

  2. Re. BRISTOL HAM COOKED CANNED 16 OZ

Some local Walmart stores have these for $2.82
But like the similar DAK hams, the reviews are not good. While I have not tried the Bristol hams, I found the meat consistency of DAK hams to be very similar to SPAM. Your results might vary.

    1. Montana Guy, I was just today wondering if you were okay. Haven’t seen you up for awhile.

And, I’ve been curious about your opinion regarding the indictments filed against the NRA leadership. I heard a little about that on the radio. Want to learn more.

      Carry on in grace

      1. Once a Marine, thanks friend. Yes, this old coot hit some pestilences. I have been out of the news loop including the NRA. That said, this NRA Life Member is no friend of the NRA now. Google ‘NRA headquarters images’. Then imagine it full of lawyers and other non-producers making 6-digit salaries.

    2. re:
      ‘canned ham looks like Spam’

      Agreed.
We usually refer to it as ‘Spam’ irregardless of label.
We think it is fine diced into an omelet (with a sprinkle of sprouts for taste and color).
We like it sliced-n-fried in a taco or a sandwich (both can be constructed of sprouts).
We enjoy it diced over a salad.

It takes a tomato sandwich over the top as long as it is combined with BACON.

      But.
We take our dose with a lot of water.
      It tends to be salty.

    1. Nice to know. In my view, where we spend our money makes a huge statement so I avoid those retailers whose views are PC, or if they actually oppose me. Which is why I shake my head at the oft-noted amazon mentions here. The head of that store is against everything I stand for! I never buy anything from them. Buying direct is best, if you can.

        1. I usually get the seller name from Amazon for items and then go directly to their website to purchase.

I also don’t shop at Ghettomart (Walmart) anymore.

          Rock on

    2. Speaking of boycotts-

On another topic- what is the deal with the Spanish civil war ? Are you seriously trying to glorify the communists who fought it ? In a fight between the communists and the fascists, I choose neither. They are ALL socialists. They all should die. But the ones that we are facing NOW are the communists. Give them NO QUARTER.

      1. The war was indeed between fascists and communists. But it provides some interesting insights into the nature of modern civil wars, in general.

  3. On the YouTube video Build Cabinets The Easy Way | How to Build Cabinets

If you want a hard copy of a book on building cabinets, I highly recommend: Building Kitchen Cabinets Made Simple: A Book and Companion Step-by-Step Video DVD

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1600853005

The book is only 128 pages and over half of that is photos and illustrations. When I built my house I thought the only thing I was going to have to have someone else do was build the cabinets. This book proved me wrong and I was able to build my own for a fraction of the cost. The book is very well written with easy-to-understand explanations and illustrations. It also includes a DVD.

Of all the things in my house, the one that still amazes me the most is when I look at the cabinets in the kitchen and pantry and say, “Wow, I built these.” You can too, and with the huge savings buy a very nice table saw and tools for your shop.

    1. St Funogas

      That’s awesome!

My husband built our bed frame from the original staircase wood in our home, complete with the old nails we pulled from the boards. Our home was built in 1861 and the wood is absolutely beautiful.

We still have the original wood flooring in the dining room. It’s not in the greatest shape but I love it.

  4. The laptop; the Toughbook is indeed a quality unit, but it’s expensive, and shares the same Achilles’ heel as every other computer; programmed obsolescence of the operating system!

    1. You can change operating systems. I bought a cheap HP computer that came with Windows and I was able to install Linux and delete Windows myself. You could do the same with a Toughbook. I am now planning a new computer build- a Raspberry Pi handheld computer. New hobby ! Fun ! I saw a Pi project inside a small water tight Pelican case. https://magpi.raspberrypi.org/articles/raspberry-pi-recovery-kit-project-showcase

  5. Just had to post on what may be the most hilarious even of the leftist convention- Bill Clinton preaching to Trump on decorum in the Oval Office. Also Denis Prager tip on how to tell the difference between a liberal and a leftist. Ask them if hate speech should be allowed. A true liberal will say yes.

  6. Had never heard of Molly Tuttle until reading JWR’s recommendation this morning. Spent the next few hours watching every video of her’s I could find. Thanks!

  7. I love my RAD Wagon e-bike. Great customer service with free rapid replacement of parts bent in shipping. Heavy load carrying capacity. Built so a spare rider can sit behind. Cost $1,500. Goes 40 miles on battery, depending upon flat ground. For the cheap price, buy an extra battery to double range and still total cost is less than $2400.

I got the brilliant orange one for safety.

  8. Just a heads up for those that it may matter to…
Ms. Tuttle is passionate about her support for both BLM and the LGBTQ issues.
I know it may not matter to all…..but for some….like myself, it does.
