  1. Nation wrote two series, Survivors and Blake’s 7, in the 1970s. Survivors was re-made a few years ago.

He also worked on Doctor Who, and was the creator of the Nazi-like and iconic Daleks.

With the revival of Doctor Who 15 years ago, along with the globalization of entertainment, the Doctor and the Daleks have entered the pantheon of American pop culture.

But back when I was kid – during Ronald Reagan’s first term, when a few British TV shows were only available on PBS – Doctor Who was something only really cool people watched.

  2. Nation wrote two series, Survivors and Blake’s 7, in the 1970s.

Blake’s 7 was a show so gloriously low budget that even the apostrophe was missing in its opening titles.

But as a kid, the cheesy production values of shows like Doctor Who and Blake’s 7 became part of their charm. The stories more than made up for it. Now excuse me while I go yell at some kids to get off of my lawn.

  3. The original Survivors from BBC is on You Tube. While low budget and not always smooth flowing, it is indeed still the most haunting and realistic survival program series I’ve seen. Highly Recommended.

  4. TMS Live Stream with Matt Bracken – 3PM EST August 8th was an awesome show (1pm Mountain Time every Saturday)
