I am thinking about a different Taurus to purchase. But, you review has told me a lot about their quality. Thank you.
I bought the PT111 G2, and it is the same gun just a little smaller. I can’t say how satisfied I am with the performance of this weapon. It will definitely go bang every time you pull the trigger. As for the complaint of a long travel trigger, well who is going to notice that in the heat of battle. If you are thinking about that when someone has a gun pointed at you, well I’m sorry for you and your family. I love my Glock because you can practically shoot rocks through it. The G2 I have can shoot those same rocks after they’ve gone through the Glock. By one if you have the means. That is if you have a low paying job and you only work part time.
My only regret with my G2C is that I didn’t buy two of them while I still had the chance.
I picked up two PT111 G2 locally for around $200. I’ll purchase more if I see them at that price.
My wife really likes them, everything is the right size for her. I’m a 1911 guy myself, but when I was instructing the wife with the G2 I was able to bounce a can across the back yard with it just about as fast as I could reacquire the front sight and pull the trigger. I have never been able to do that with any other polymer frame wonder pistol. I have also never experienced any malfunctions of any kind.
Maybe it would break under heavy use, but I’m not going to shoot USPSA with it. I’d consider it a decent pistol at twice the price.
Finally a firearms company that makes a quality EDC pistol that even the most common American can afford! I have both a G2C and a G3 and they have performed flawlessly! I would bet my life on them if I had to!!!
Got a G3 and love it.
If I didn’t already have a S&W M&P 9 2.0 Compact that I dearly love, I’d give the G3 a try.
The hardest thing is finding one for sale. Been looking to get one since Feb. My local gun shops are tired of me asking them about acquiring one.
I bought one for the low price of 259.00. I’d say the finish on the slide was a bit rougher than I liked, but the gun functioned perfectly with my reloads and some factory. Since I have a pretty goodly collection of other handguns I left this G3 in Las Vegas with my nephew to keep for me when I fly there to visit so I don’t have to go thru the hassle of checking a bag and declaring a gun to the airline. But even though it’s not my first choice as an EDC it certainly meets the reliable when you need it mantra.
I still won’t touch a Taurus revolver after a horrific experience with one. The G2s are good little pistols.
Which Taurus revolver?
I don’t want to join the ranks of the internet expert Taurus bashers, but my experiences with Taurus have not been great. My first was a Rossi 92 (same company) with a broken extracter. Returned to Taurus, they paid shipping as it was fairly new, after keeping it 6+ months they sent me a new rifle per their policy. I had the rifle slicked up per Kiowa Nate’s instructions and I absolutely love it. My next Taurus was a Model 65 .357 revolver, blued, absolutely loved it, but after a very few trips to the range over two or three years the trigger pull became dangerously light, sent it back, had to pay shipping, they kept it seven months and finally sent me a new one in that flat black finish, not blued, and was nowhere near as accurate as the one it replaced. Traded it in on a Smith. Also bought a Taurus .44 mag with 4″ ported barrel (rifling is 3″) in matte stainless. Liked it okay, but by that time I’d had it with Taurus and traded it on a Smith also. I suppose my recommendation would be if you have trouble with a Taurus take it to a gunsmith, the reason Taurus has a lifetime warranty is it will take a lifetime to get it back.
