Thats not an MP 40 on the Russians back it is a folder Ppsh-41 note the square rear of the gun! Just an observation. Cool picture though and a good read referencing the pictures time frame is Heaven and Hell by Martin Poppel (The war diary of a german paratrooper)

Yes, I’ve read that. And note that AFTER the photo doctoring, the other soldier is shown wearing ONLY two wristwatches.
