The .45-90 can be loaded down to .45-70 Gov’t, or loaded to nearly equal Modern .45-70 loads. Recoil is stout, so it is nice to have options. I still have a pound of IMR SR4759 that is good for reduced recoil loads, but it is no longer available. Trail Boss would easily tame this beast, and has become popular for Cowboy Action loads, but then where would be the fun?
