Easy to build directional antenna.
2 element direct connect yagi is easy to build. Use old rabbit ears, to make it easier and retunable. I use telescoping antennas, or
‘rabbit ears’, when available. Being a rabbit, I know how to use these. I’m all ears. This is a simple dipole that is broad banded, and has an impedance of 72 ohms, yet can be tuned resulting in a low SWR. Used with a reflecting element spaced correctly, the impedance can be adjusted to almost match 50ohms. The result is directional antenna that can be easily built, rotated, and re-positioned, so that it is horizontally polarized. The gain is reportedly 5dbi, or 3Dbd, or double the power if line loss is not considered. For maximum COMSEC (communications security), the antenna can be pointed into the hills, and target receiving station put at the edge of it ‘s footprint. The best antenna for COMSEC is a 5 element antenna. Those however require much more work to construct.
