      1. The rifle in the photo at the top of the main blog page, is very similar in appearance to my own, and the same model, the old Springfield 03A3. Except that mine as the original leather sling, it appears to be the same rifle. I’m also taken the expressions on the men. Classic stuff!

   2. Looks like the USMC M40.

      1. Yes, it is likely the M40. Thanks for the info. My Springfield was put in a similar stock, perhaps inspired by the M40. I’ve read Hathcock switched from the Springfield to the Remington late in his career.
