Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport is a public airport located 10 miles (16 km) east of the central business district of Amarillo, Texas, north of Interstate 40. … The airport was named after NASA astronaut Rick Husband, an Amarillo native and commander of the final flight of Space Shuttle Columbia, STS-107, which disintegrated on re-entry.
And in Israel at Machtesh Ramon(the “grand canyon” of Israel) they have a small museum dedicated to Ilan Ramon with a movie on the shuttle disaster and him. Israel was so proud of him and his loss(and that of the rest of the crew) was tragic.
“Space. The final frontier.”
Seriously corny but I have always thought it was true. People have always needed frontiers and the frontiers have always been dangerous. I think the people who have died advancing those frontiers are real heroes.
