  1. Because people treat turkeys around here like pets, there are over one thousand of them within a few miles of here. They are becoming a road hazard along with the deer. Instead of running across the road, turkeys can fly and smash the windshield. It is possible to see bevies of 50 to 100 turkeys.

Had to chase another badger away last night. We are truly blessed to have wild life so thick and healthy. Wasting disease has unfortunately been reported to be in Libby. This may spread quickly given how many deer we have. The fields are either filled with cattle, or deer. And the grizzly are thicker than first reported. A friend had 4 grizzly within a square mile. He compared it to the Night of the Grizzly. Several had been hit by the train in the area as well. The official reports about the population is greatly understated, and the bears will continue to have special protection even as there is a population explosion in progress. The DNC doesn’t want to do anything about either….

  2. As with most “Christian-themed” holidays, Thanksgiving is falling out of favor with the general population. Most decorations in the stores declare “Happy Harvest” or “Gather” rather than acknowledge God as the source of our blessings.

I’m afraid that it won’t be long before Christians will have to meet in “house churches” to practice our faith as was done long ago. Well, at least that will help cull the hypocrites and return the practice of our faith to its essentials. And anyway, we should be declaring our thankfulness every day, shouldn’t we?

    Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

    1. When President Washington named the first Thanksgiving, it was “a national day of thanksgiving and prayer.” The mass media gradually dropped any mention of the “and prayer” part.

    2. Not so sure about “general population”. Perhaps many elites and rabble rousers but I think we under estimate the number of “unwashed masses” who still believe.

My church is largely run by and packed with Millennials. The pastor being the oldest is a little older but the guys serving communion are Millennials. The preaching is straight from the Bible with Calvin, Luther and other reformers regularly quoted. I attend Mass occasionally with Catholics I know. Packed services with plenty of young people and people of all ages. This in a supposedly unchurched region.

I think many of us think we are alone but like God told Elijah there are a lot of people who have not bowed to baal.

    3. Ma G, declaring our thankfulness each day. You are singing my song.

When someone says “How are you?”, as people glibly do, instead of saying “Fine” I take a moment and note what I am taking for granted in that moment and embrace that (running water, a secure roof, good clothing, etc) in gratitude.

My reply is then, “I’m grateful.” Rather than being annoyed at that question that is so often insincere, I now love pausing and giving thanks. Then, I ask the person what he/she is grateful for. Many tender conversations have grown out of this.

      Carry on
