Can anyone recommend any books with more historical information about these original rangers? They all appear to have the same rifle. What is it? And last, a dachshund? Really?
The picture is of a later date than 1835 as repeating rifles did not come on the scene until the Civil War, early 1860s.
Yes, the rifles all look like Winchester Model 1873s. And one revolver seen is definitely a Colt 1873 Peacemaker. So the photo was likely taken between 1874 and sometime in the late 1880s.
Looks like a couple of those rangers could have used a refresher on gun safety.
I love the bow ties. Also, I look at the boots. Lace ups weren’t too popular until about the 1880s and afterward.
Hey, I have a writing assignment and need at least 2 books on gun control
obviously, they need to be written from a pro second amendment stance
not some kind of liberal B.S.
if anyone can give me some titles it would be very helpful
Thanks and God Bless
to JG: More Guns, Less Crime by John Lott, The Bias Against Guns by John Lott, Nation of Cowards by Jeff Snyder, anything by Stephen Halbrook. Good luck!
Anyone visiting Waco, TX , I highly recommend you visit the Texas Rangers Museum.
The unofficial Motto of the Rangers: “One riot, one Ranger.”
