My grand parents lived 8 miles from the Yorktown battlefield, played there as a kid in the early 70s catching fireflies at sunset & doing our own re enactments . . . that whole area is super rich in history. . . Used to fly into the “Patrick Henry” airport at Newport News every summer . . . It aint called Patrick Henry anymore. . . Just one more thing that’s been memory holed.
The French fought till 1783
Please elaborate, Tho Dan. Why did the French continue to fight? And where?
Carry on
e.g. the Siege of Gibraltar, the Battle and Siege of Cuddalore in India, a lot of smaller battles in the west Indies.
Regaining and gaining of territory i think, territory the british goverment would consider more valuable than the 13 colonies
So, ThoDan, was the American Colonies’ war part of the global struggle between France and England? Did the French support the Americans out of self-serving motives rather than altruism?
Carry on
I would rather say this world war was “AFAIK” started or maybe better initiated with the american Revolution and France did support the Americans as altruistic, as the US did support the Entente and the allies in WWI and WWII
