    1. Bedford, wow… I hadn’t read of him. Wikipedia: Whittlemore ambushed a British brigade knowing that he probably had only 3 shots (a musket and 2 dueling pistols) killing 2 Brits and wounding a 3rd. He was obviously in very close range and at the age of 80 he KNEW that after firing he couldn’t outrun any of them. What a man.

  1. After killing several British, he was stabbed, and had his skull cracked–left for dead while defending his farm. Went on to fight in the war and lived another decade or so. Yeah, a true hero right there.

  2. My favorite time in all of history. Will have to do some research on this outstanding man. They don’t make him like that anymore. What you might call a true patriot. The term “will bow down and be a slave to no man” comes to mind. An actual term but who and when said escapes me.
