  1. So,
I wonder if the Army is going to insist that the American made Russian ammo is going to be to Russian specs. Or are they going to be built to American specs. ie. .308?, .310? Same thing with the rifles. And RPG’s.
It would be good to build to original Russian specs. because U.S. supported forces can utilize field pick ups.

  2. It seems to me that they could buy all the Russian weapons and ammo they need for a fraction of the cost it would take to produce them here. I am sure the former Soviet bloc countries would be happy to fill this supposed need as they have been doing for years. Other countries such as Pakistan would be a good cheap source. Perhaps they should just stockpile this ordnance like the rest of us have been doing over the years.

  3. When will they learn? Regarding providing munitions to our “friends” of the present only to have them used against us in the future when they are no longer our “friends”. How many US troops will be killed by ammo made in this country?

    1. Red Rover, to echo your opinion, I wonder how many GIs were killed in Afghanistan by Stinger missiles supplied to the mujahadin during the Soviet occupation. Those poppies have a long shelf life and they kill indiscriminately.

      Carry on

  4. Is the US on the Path of Balkanization? = Has to be a rhetorical question.

“At least 220 languages are spoken in California, and 44% of residents speak a language other than English at home. Seven million Californians say they cannot speak English well.” ~ Los Angeles Times, 9/5/2017.

+In the USA many politicians are promising to give-away, ‘Free Stuff’ to both the rich and the poor. … Free Stuff~Promises are being made to Americans, and to anyone crossing our borders.
Nothing in life is free. People forced to pay all the bills will be alienated from society. ~> They’ll seek ways to detach themselves from the money grabbing politicians, reaching into the wallets.

  5. Regarding the Alabama car dealership giving away a shotgun with a vehicle purchase, I read that Ford Motor Company has forced the dealership to stop the practice. It seems Ford hates freedom.

  6. Is the US on the Path of Balkanization?
I certainly, prayerfully, hope so. But I do not wish for the ensuring war(s). That we would all simply let the others go there way…but by the dear(/sarc) memory of Mr. Lincoln, how could this be?

China has festering problems between north and south? Hmm, I wonder how many times (/sarc) the pentagon warned sitting Presidents of the coming Northern peoples getting their lands taken by hoards of invading Southern peoples and globally. Didn’t know that? Pitty. Yes, Republicans and Democrats were warned for decades to stop the phony East – West charade and focus on the actual coming problem of masses of invaders…you’ve been had by every President for 50 years. Have you ever wished that you didn’t know something? Who would listen anyway.

The Army Wants U.S. Companies to Crank Out Ammo for Russian Guns
I’m a little more cynical about this. I think it’s for the same reason that the CIA created, trained, and armed ISIS, because how can you have a never ending war if the “enemy” has little ammo?

  7. Re: US produced ammo for Russian guns.

    Two things.

Never had a misfire from Russian or Communist block 7.62x54r. Not one. And a lot of it is decades old. Highly reliable, well packaged and accurate enough. Dirty though. Lots of cleaning when I am done shooting that stuff.

The picture in the article showed .45 ACP brass, boxer primed rounds and then talked about Russian ammo which is seldom .45 ACP, often not brass and often not boxer primed. I just love journalists throwing garbage up in print or online for filler or whatever.

  8. Regarding arms distribution, the US remains the largest arms distributor globally, and historically. I personally helped distribute Russian-model weapons in a program equipping the Afghan police. We gave away over 100,000 of them in the 11 months I was there during my first tour.

I do know that prior and subsequent programs (re)distributed hundreds of thousands of Russian-model weapons as well, to both Afghan Army and Police.

Our purchases of ammo turned catastrophic when we bought millions of defective rounds from a low-budget soviet bloc supplier in 2006. AK weapons wouldn’t cycle with it and jams occurred. Costing lives.

Still, my opinion is we should stop supplying arms and ammo.

  9. Nothing new on the US producing Com-block small arms ammo. Lake City made millions of rds of 7.62X39mm ammo during the Viet Nam war. I had it at the Long Binh ammo dump in 1971. We were shipping it to Cambodia.
