Dear Pat,
Are you aware of any MIM parts in this 1911?
Looks like a nice gun. I have an one made in 1918 my Gramps got back in ’64 through the CMP for $17. I also have a series 80. Both are great and accurate guns. I carry the series 80 in a shoulder holster in the winter. Both guns are great shooters.
I’ve been a fan of the 1911 .45 for many yrs, ever since Uncle Sam tried to teach me how to shoot it back in the 60’s. Couldn’t hit the board side of the barn then and still can’t hit it to this day, but I enjoy shooting it. That being said, at 70 plus, I’ve went to Springfield Armory R O compact in a 9mm,easier to shoot and lighter in the waistband than my commander. there is more here to tell, but there isn’t enough space here. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and everyone
Great review Pat. Picked up the same model in 9mm in October and love it. Pretty much no recoil with the lighter caliber. Nothing I’d change on it, which is rare. I agree with the confusion on the name though, but if that is the worst you can say about it….
After Springfield Armory and Rock River Arms sold out Illinois gun dealers and gun owners I won’t be buying anything from then.
It’s too bad because I like both of their products.
My wife bought me a RO for my 50 b day. The only complaint I have is my rear sight is an adjustable and sits high. I still cut myself on it when not paying attention. I’m thinking about replacing it with a solid rear sight like the one on the EMP 9mm that I bought for my wife. Should be a great gun.
Intimidated and don’t know where to start with radio? This book is the perfect guide to what options you have i.e. GMRS, CB, to ham and basic communication topics.
