SurvivalBlog presents another edition of The Survivalist’s Odds ‘n Sods— a collection of news bits and pieces that are relevant to the modern survivalist and prepper from “JWR ”. Today, we focus on Michael Z. Williamson’s latest book: Freehold: Resistance.
There is No “Healthy Dialogue”
Whenever you hear the phrase “healthy dialogue” these days, you can substitute either the words “imperious leftist lecture” or “SJW censorship”, to be closer to reality. This recent news article from Illinois provides a good example: Pritzker hopes for ‘healthy dialogue’ with business community . And, even more pointedly, there is this from The New York Post about the amped-up social media bans: Beware social media’s push for ‘healthier dialogue’ . For what its worth, I have abjured all use of social media by my family.
CO-TCCC Recommends New Tourniquets
From SkinnyMedic: “CO-TCCC Recommends NEW Tourniquets ” on YouTube.
Cory Booker: Federal License for All Gun Owners
Colion Noir breaks this down in a video: Cory Booker Wants to Require Federal License for All Gun Owners . For details on Booker’s 14-point “action plan”, see: Cory Booker just unveiled a plan that would make buying a gun a lot like getting a driver’s license . JWR’s Comments: My prediction is that now that Booker has broken the ice, the majority of the 20+ Democrat presidential candidates will each put their own spin on “common sense” civilian disarmament. And those among farthest left will try to “out gun control” each other. This should be entertaining to watch, as these socialist bufffoons gyrate on unconstitutional policies and gradually disaffect even non-gun owners.
New Williamson Sci-Fi Anthology: Freehold: Resistance
SurvivalBlog’s Editor At Large Michael Z. Williamson has been busy putting together a new anthology of sci-fi short stories in his Freehold universe: Freehold: Resistance . Here is a synopsis:
When the UN invaded the Freehold of Grainne, the intent was simple: Force a non-compliant star nation back into the collective.
What the politicians hadn’t accounted for was that the Freehold had spent 200 years as the haven for every independent, rebellious, self-reliant adventurer in human space.
Its military are scattered remnants, its bases smoking ruins, its cities occupied. But Grainne and its space habitats have resources beyond measure. Retired intelligence agents, disabled veterans, animal handlers, petty smugglers, half-lame computer specialists, research scientists, professional duelists, space traffic controllers, all have one goal in mind: Make the invaders suffer for their presumption.
This isn’t just resistance. It’s vengeance.
There are 16 authors included in this upcoming anthology including Mike Williamson, Larry Correia, Brad R. Torgersen, Mike Massa, and Kacey Ezell.
Mike Writes about his collaborative autors:
“If you were going to put an insurgency together, you’d probably pick these people based on their day jobs.
We already have significant advance interest in the military and IT communities. I believe it will be very relevant reading for serious preppers regarding building communication networks, logistical organizations, and strategy/tactics. Note that there is a small amount of adult content, quite a bit of [coarse] language, and obviously multiple scenes of violence.”
Freehold: Resistance won’t be released until December, 2019, but you can already pre-order your copy.
China’s Third Aircraft Carrier
Reader S.W. sent this from Zero Hedge: China’s Third Aircraft Carrier Revealed In New Satellite Images . A tidbit from the article:
“In spite of China’s carrier program remaining a state secret, and with no official confirmation of its extent, new satellite images published by Reuters reveal that China’s first full-sized aircraft carrier is being built at the Jiangnan shipyard outside Shanghai.
Upon completion it would be China’s third carrier, which Pentagon officials said last week was being worked on as the US military attempts to accurately assess the PLA’s capabilities (People’s Liberation Army). Last Fall state media confirmed the program , but Tuesday is the first time images have been made available to confirm it is indeed making rapid progress.”
New Hurt Feelings Snitch Web Page
And in closing, blog reader H.L. sent me a link to what I first assumed was a joke: Offended By What Someone Said? Now You Can Report Them To Law Enforcement . To explain: I thought it was in jest, because for several years people have been sending me copies of (or links to) this faux Department of the Army form , which apparently originated during the Army’s unpopular Kosovo deployments. I’ll just chalk this up as evidence of the veracity of J. Rawles Axiom #11: If you live long enough, you will see parody become reality.
