SurvivalBlog’s News From The American Redoubt

This weekly column features news stories and event announcements from around the American Redoubt region. (Idaho, Montana, eastern Oregon, eastern Washington, and Wyoming.) Much of the region is also more commonly known as The Inland Northwest. We also mention companies of interest to preppers and survivalists that are located in the American Redoubt region. Today, we focus on wolf population estimates.   (See the Idaho section.)

Region-Wide:

Reader M.K. spotted this wire service article that mentions the American Redoubt movement and real estate agent Todd Savage: Survivalists who fear a looming, urban catastrophe are swapping city life for a fresh start off grid and far from civilisation.

Game cameras took 11 million photos of wolves in Idaho for new population estimate

Here is how the article begins:

“Game cameras took 11 million photos to help Idaho Department Fish and Game researchers count wolves.

IDFG has a new estimate of the statewide wolf population through its new survey method using game cameras and mathematical modeling, which will be repeated annually and fine-tuned during the next few years.

At the IDFG commission meeting on Wednesday in Boise, staff reported there were an estimated 1,541 wolves in the state during summer 2019. The estimate represents the peak population shortly after pups were born.

IDFG biologists haven’t estimated the statewide wolf population in Idaho in 5 years.

From 2006 to 2015, Fish and Game’s wolf monitoring program remained under federal oversight. During that time, the department maintained enough radio-collared wolves to show there were more than 15 breeding pairs in the state and more than 150 total wolves. Those surveys were intended to show the wolf population exceeded targets needed to remove them from federal protection and oversight.”

Investigation: Ferry County range riders were in Spokane when they were supposed to be patrolling. Here is the intro to the Spokeman-Review article:

“Two range riders who were supposed to be protecting cattle in Ferry County in 2018 were more than 100 miles away in Spokane, shopping and spending time at the Davenport Hotel, according to a Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife investigation that has since been referred to a Thurston County prosecutor.

Meanwhile, environmental groups charge, wolves killed cattle in the area the range riders were supposed to be patrolling, which led in turn to the wolves being exterminated.

As for the range riders themselves, one of them denied in a Friday interview that they neglected their duties at all.

The allegations and denials are the latest chapter in a long and tense saga between those who graze cattle on public lands in Washington and those who support the return of wolves to the area.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is recommending second -degree theft charges be filed against several contract employees tasked with keeping wolves from killing cattle in northeast Washington.”

  1. Time to get your local/county/state voter rolls cleaned up as “motor voter” schemes have put many unqualified persons or maintained the dead/disqualified to vote(dead Democrats don’t stop voting)

    1. Funny how Broward County Florida was slapped on the hand for their shenanigans causing the “hanging chad” during Bush/Gore presidential election [2000], then slapped again for the Trump election [2016]. It is widespread news that the Senate seat won by Al Franken [2008] has been a controversy as a car load of votes showed up after the final count, and all votes were for democrat Al Franken stripping the win from a Republican. Remember Obamacare passed due to that one vote…. Al Franken… Imagine what other human freedoms were taken through voter fraud…

NPR had a story yesterday that “white males” vote Republican. Any reason why there is such a push to bring “brown” people through the boarder illegally whilst pitching the “male privilege” card and “white privilege” card???? Now I’m not calling Mexicans “brown” but there are more than Mexicans coming through the southern boarder.

Since I’m on a roll, any reason why they [the LEFT] want to have all student loans paid for by taxpayers. Because it is the LEFT’s narrative taught. “Hate Trump” teachings and the American people will foot the bill.

It is sad in America watching Adam Shiff illustrate 27 times in his closing arguments that Article 2 of the Constitution must be preserved. why? Because then we don’t have an Article I for “just” impeachment as he stated.

However, these Democrats are all about stating “democracy” and “US Constitution” even defending the Constitution’s Article 2…. Anyone show the Democrats a miror on how well they’re holding up the Amendment 2 of the US Constitution.

People please run for office…. We will loose this country and AND AND be forced into a ground war to take it back. The Founding documents are all written based on Christian principles.

      God Bless.

      1. Speaking of political hacks in Broward County; it was the sheriff (Scott Israel) and the superintendent of schools (Robert Runcie) who violated federal law in not reporting the legal and psychological problems of Nicolas Cruz to the NICS system. That allowed Cruz to be able to “legally” buy his gun in the first place. Why aren’t those two scumbags in prison? Shouldn’t they be tried along with Cruz as accessories to the murders he committed?

On Al Franken: I’ve noticed a tendency to pin the blame for the passage of Obamacare on one senator or another. For me it was Ben Nelson of Nebraska. His governor tried to call him to direct him to vote NO on passage of Obamacare. Old Ben refused to take that call, and voted with his party instead of with his state. Thanks to the 17th amendment Old Ben didn’t have to pay any attention to his state government. He only had to execute the orders of his political party. Without the 17th amendment, Old Ben would not have had the audacity to refuse to take his governor’s call. Instead Old Ben would have immediately taken that call. When his governor gave him an order not to vote for Obamacare, Old Ben’s answer would have been “Yes Sir, Boss!”

This is why I blame Ben Nelson. I’m in Michigan so I have no particular ax to grind. My two Democrat senators would not have obeyed either if we’d had a Republican governor at the time (we didn’t). All Hail the party, or is that just Seig Heil!

This is why the 17th amendment desperately needs to be repealed.

        1. @Charles K.

Thanks for the insight. Didn’t know about the 17th Amendment debacle until you highlighted it. My wife and I believe the 19th Amendment needs to be revoked and get back to a family vote cast by the man of the household. Ann Coulter was right… “Women shouldn’t have the right to vote because the overwhelming majority vote Democrat.”

As far as guns go and any laws subduing the 2A, I’m against! That means I disagree with your comment of Cruz going to jail for not enforcing “infringement” laws on the 2A. Nope, the mass shootings always lie with feminism!!! My wife agrees… Everyone of these nut jobs taking lives come from a feminized broken home… Even the nutjob in Las Vegas at 60+ years old mowing down citizens wasn’t in a family as a loving grandfather but was in a sham relationship as a sex partner to a girlfriend. We had over 200 years of school children bearing arms and not a single incident of school shootings. Bring the wives/mothers back into their title of housewife [stripping them of the title of fighter pilot, tax attorney, astronaut, et al.] and stop gender equality which breaks up youthful rearing and then the mass shootings are solved 100%.

These feminized groups of Mom’s Demand Action and Everytown for Gun Safety whereby these democratic party voting women get together to take our guns through legislation, should be more concerned about becoming a loving wife/mother in their home. They need to demand congress for family equality [not gender equality] that their husbands are allowed to provide for their family keeping America great again with “all mothers safe and secured through their husbands [not law enforcement and radical feminized politicians insiting more carnage to secure more liberated women]!”

People are waking up to this social re-engineering by the LEFT!!!

          God bless!

      2. To Jefferson Davis….

I would appreciate it if you would show me how the first amendment (freedom of religion) is based on Christian principles. It appears to run contrary to this.

Deut. 7:2 And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them:
3 Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.
4 For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.
5 But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.
6 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

I do agree with you about women’s suffrage.

  2. Re. Man sentenced to 17 years in federal prison.

The article lacks details. That said, I believe these absolutely fundamental questions must be asked before any person is incarcerated.

Specifically, who has this man harmed? Whose rights has he violated and what are those rights?

    1. You did read that he sold a pound of meth to undercover agents. Logically then he sold many pounds in the past. You do understand that mostly young people get hooked on these drugs that destroy their lives and cause early deaths. I assume you have no kids or grandkids. Because who, if they had kids or grandkids, would be in favor of meth dealers killing them and making them prostitute themselves or steal/rob to buy more meth once addicted.

  3. Wuhan virus update: Virus numbers are increasing as is the number of countries affected. Human to human transmission verified in three countries other than China. CDC increases warning. No explosive developments, at least none that were announced. The situation continues to degrade and bears a close eye.

  4. West coast transplants – I recently visited with a contractor ( a cousin ) from Billings Montana and he was telling me about the building ( houses ) boom going on in Billings. Most being from the west coast, calif, oregon, washington and he said the worst part of it being , they brought their
b.S. politics and attitudes with them. Now he is unhappy with the area and thinking about moving back to the upper midwest ( back home )

    1. The majority are actually conservative. (In fact, 59% are registered Republican.) It is just a few liberal loudmouths who make the newcomers look bad.

      1. It’s the same in Wyoming, a small number of vocal liberals shouting down the majority with accusations of everything they themselves are guilty of. But it never gets old pointing out their hypocrisy. Cheyenne is being infiltrated from the Front Range escapees, Sheridan from the Montana side and Jackson by the elites (a cryin’ shame millionaires can’t afford to live there anymore).
