Survival Notes from Canada- September 14, 2018, by Clint Ekert

As my children lie asleep above me, I am writing this for you, my fellow, respectable believer of the Christian faith. I need to draw the line somewhere. I have little to no inclination to assist non-believers in either disaster preparation or in what is righteous.

I speak to the respectable, Christian believers of good faith. What is respectable, you might ask? I would define it as a person who defines themselves as a Christian and who actually is concerned with the health and safety of other Christians.

The Threat To Western, Christian Values

In church last week a fellow parishioner delivered a sermon about the threat to Western, Christian values in Canada. He began:

Western Societies Abandoning Christian Foundations

“Psalm 11

What shall the righteous do? We live in challenging times. Ever since the 1960s, Western societies have been abandoning their Christian foundations.

In this psalm, David expresses similar feelings about his kingdom. Possibly, it was written during the early days of Absalom‘s conspiracy (2 Samuel 15 verses 1 to 6). The foundations of a God-fearing culture were being destroyed. What should good people do? Retreat? Verse 4 is a resounding ‘No’.”

Laws That Have Harmed Christian People

His Sermon went on to include some of the laws that were changed or enacted that directly affects real, Christian people of Canada:

Laws that have harmed Christians include:

1. School prayer was banned in 1988 in Ontario.

2. Abortion without legislation occurring since 1988. Our current Prime Minister made it clear during the most recent federal election campaign. Anyone who is not committed to his “pro-choice view” would never be part of his caucus. This virtually silenced any hope of a “pro life” candidate being able to voice their perspectives within our current Liberal government.

3. Gay marriage institutionalized in 2005 bracket, formerly Bill C 38, which became law.

4. Doctor-assisted suicide was legalized in May 2016 (formerly Bill C 14, which became law).

5. Non-binary, trans-gender expression enshrined in the federal human rights code in June 2017.

6. Injuring people of faith from fostering or adopting children because of their traditional views on human sexuality bracket formerly Bill 89, which is now chapter 14 of the statute June 2017.

7. Loss of religious freedom in the Trinity Western University Law school supreme court last June 2018.

8. An impending Senate standing committee report on the charitable sector is due December 2018.

9. Gideon Bibles distribution at schools was stopped by the Government of Ontario in the Spring of 2012. This occurred around the same time in the UK and the USA as well.

I would also go on the recent Bill-103, known as the “Islamaphobia Bill”, written by a current Muslim member of Canadian Parliament, born and raised in a Muslim country.

What Does This Matter?

Why does this matter to me, you might wonder?

Well, first off, I am into my seven year “mortgage” on my pick-up truck, which I might add has become a veritable homage to everything country. Furthermore, I am noticing more and more. Despite making more than I ever have in my professional career, I am able to purchase less and less for my Canadian dollar, known as a “Looney”.

(Incidentally, as to the nickname of the Canadian Dollar, Canada apparently possesses less than 100 ounces of Gold Reserves). “Looney” seems a fitting nickname.

Yet, a person can be called “Looney” for thinking that our paper money was backed by something with real value.

More to it, I have kids. I need to draw the line in my household. Gays, lesbians, transgenders, and any person who is not a respectable Christian is not welcome in my household.

It’s my home, and I feel that I have the right to openly discuss how I feel on matters that pertain to Christianity to my children. However, I have also lately been aware that discussion of any now “Forbidden” subjects may be persecuted under Canada law.

Threats in Public School

There is now an existential threat that if my children say the wrong political narrative in public school that they may be prosecuted, and I may be as well.

A “Yes” Man

I found myself in the recent past playing the game of a kind, social, “yes” man. I make decent money and have a great family. Yet my purchasing power erodes at a steady rate at the grocery store. Also, at home, there is a looming government threat that if I speak my Christian values to my children, I might never see them again. That is the implication and threat of the these Laws and Bills upon the Christian who happens to live in Canada.

Our once great country has sadly been burdened with the nickname “Kanuckstan”. Our Prime Minister’s employment history is mainly as a former snow board instructor and part-time drama school teacher. His major pedigree, it seems, is that he is the son of the prime minister that was largely responsible for dismantling the Canadian military. It sure is a “Looney”country, it seems, right now. However, there is little humor in loss of personal freedom and in the inability to provide food for your children.

Safe On a Farm, In South Africa?

At lot of thought went through my head lately as the kids were driven in our big pick up truck through the rural countryside. (Our shiny 4 x 4 is our “Canadian Survival-Mobile”, decked out with some references to American, wholesome, shotgun manufacturers, I might add.) I tell the children, “You are safe on a farm”. But I have heard news that Christian farmers in an a far away place called South Africa are not safe in their farm and are, in fact, in great danger. I realized that despite our countries’ distance, we are ever near in our relationship as a family.

Friend In South Africa

I have a dear friend who lives in South Africa, who is about as great a man as you can ever meet, in my most humble opinion. He has related me tales of utter sadistic, immoral, and brutal acts of pure evil committed upon the families of Christian farmers. They’re tales so numerous, barbaric, and evil, told in the aftermath. When I think of this, I am awoken, as I was awoken the first time.

Will Affect Every Person of Christian Faith

It doesn’t matter how. Yet it does, should, and will affect every person of true Christian faith, whether they live in the North, South, East, or West corners of the world. It seems secular people may believe otherwise, but the truth be told is: the strength of the world is based upon the cornerstones of Christianity, which has been rapidly eroding in these current time because of an assault on its faith. When the power goes down, a country like Canada will be a harsh and unforgiving place, as will the rest of the world.

An Ongoing Series, Deals With Survival Issues

This is an ongoing series that deals with survival issues to Christian people. A country like Canada has lessons to be learned to anyone dealing with and living in a harsh environmental climate without proper preparation, or who have your family and prosperity taken away for a fervent belief in our Lord Jesus Christ.

I’ll cover survival issues, both in importance to the people who live in Canada and to the rest of the world. Gun laws and recommendations, communications, food storage, hunting, fishing, and camping in cold climates, and living “Off the Grid” will be future topics of weekly discussion. Also, there will be a weekly reminder of the impending catastrophe that faces Christianity, if we do not act now.

Lest Us Not Forget

“Lest us not forget” is a popular Canadian military motto. (And, yes, I did serve.) I will say further: let us not forget the Christian farmers of South Africa as we will meet them on our journey, unless we act for them, both with our prayer, pocketbooks, and whatever means to our disposal, for all of us.

From my fellow church goer, a respectable Christian from his sermon:

“When the laws are not upheld …
When morality is undermined …
And when evil sweeps on unchecked …
When the Bible is undermined and its teachings disregarded …
When even church leaders seem to support the rising tide of secularism …
When family values are crumbling with increasing damage to children, to parents, and to society itself …
When everything around us seems to be giving way …
When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?”
“Perhaps this would be the place to start.”

See you next week.

  1. Our local book club and writers’ group are gushing over THE SONG OF ACHILLES. Apparently, this is a re-write of an ancient classic… with an emphasis on homosexuality. The genre, the intended audience, is ‘young adult’.

    No.

  2. It seems that sometimes “respectable Christain” including myself forget that we are not really respectable. We are sinners and that’s why Jesus came and died on the cross. I also seem to forget how Christ was treated when He walked the earth, how the apostles were treated while spreading the Gospel, the warnings of Jesus concerning how the world will treat believers and finally what my mission is while i am living in my temporary home called the world. Yesterday the editor’s quote of the day was a quote from John Piper’s book “Dont Waste Your Life”:
“I am wired by nature to love the same toys that the world loves. I start to fit in. I start to love what others love. I start to call earth ‘home.’ Before you know it, I am calling luxuries ‘needs’ and using my money just the way unbelievers do. I begin to forget the war. I don’t think much about people perishing. Missions and unreached people drop out of my mind. I stop dreaming about the triumphs of grace. I sink into a secular mind-set that looks first to what man can do, not what God can do. It is a terrible sickness. And I thank God for those who have forced me again and again toward a wartime mind-set.” – John Piper
I need to be reminded of that very, very often.

  3. We as Christians all have our crosses to bear, for some it’s pornography, others may be alcoholics, and still other may be gay. It is our job as Christians to help these people see the path they are walking on and try, not force, but try to help them see the error of their ways. We are all imperfect sinners, and we are all in need of salvation. We are not to seek out evil, but if we are confronted by it. We are to fight it with every tool the Lord has given us. We must be strong, and be examples to other believers. It’s very hard, but as Christians, this is a cross we will all be expected to bear.

    1. As Christians, Biblically, we are to operate in two modes. First, for those yet unsaved, it should be just as you describe: “It is our job as Christians to help these people see the path they are walking on and try, not force, but try to help them see the error of their ways.” But for those who are already saved and already in fellowship in a church, the second mode is Church Discipline. That process is outlined in these verses:

      Titus 1:13
This testimony is true. For this reason reprove them severely so that they may be sound in the faith…

      Galatians 6:1
Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted.

      2 Thessalonians 3:14
If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take special note of that person and do not associate with him, so that he will be put to shame.

      Revelation 2:2
I know your deeds and your toil and perseverance, and that you cannot tolerate evil men, and you put to the test those who call themselves apostles, and they are not, and you found them to be false…

      Matthew 18:15-17
If your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private; if he listens to you, you have won your brother. But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that BY THE MOUTH OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES EVERY FACT MAY BE CONFIRMED. “If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector…

Yes, discipline is done in love, but properly (Biblically) it is what is now commonly called “Tough Love”.

      1. “church discipline”

and who is in charge of this church discipline? for the initial synagogue-churches paul asserts that he is – “I became your father through the gospel” – but there seems to be no modern equivalent in protestant denominations.

  4. It seems that we are lurching (rather quickly) towards a global Sodom and Gomorrah and I don’t want to be anywhere near when the fire falls from the sky. Preps are going a little more slowly that I’m happy with, but I will trust in the Lord and keep carrying on.

  5. I look forward to your next installment. I agree with you 100%. I am a U.S. citizen living in the midwest, and I am appalled at the direction our nation has taken. Keep the Faith ! You are not alone.

  6. I am not a Christian, but I am a “person of faith,” so perhaps my comments here are appropriate. I believe that at our nation’s origin, we made a deal with God. The deal was that we would believe in and love Him, and try to live up to His Law, without requiring that everyone be of a specific religion. In return, God would give us his bounty, involving freedom and opportunity in this life and blessings in the next.

We are today, for the most part, going back on that deal. What can we expect in return? Looking at things another way, when push comes to shove, it will be people of faith that will survive and possibly save our way of life. Does anyone believe that the secularists who believe in nothing will fight for anything?

Our enemies are people of faith — in a false god and a false prophet — but their faith makes them stronger. Lacking faith puts our nation at a serious disadvantage. It is time to “put on the whole armor of God,” and save ourselves.

I support the writer of the article in her faith and in her efforts to rouse her Christian brethren. It’s time for the rest of us to go forth and do likewise.

  7. Doc… it sounds to me like you’re more of a Christian than you realize. And in fact more of a Christian than many that call themselves as such are! Keep the faith, it will serve you well. The Bible tells us this will not be an easy ride…

  8. I, too, live in Canada and would like to tell you this writer is a liar and deceiver. I would love to, but I can’t. Every word he says is true. I believe Canada has become a Marxist country and much more control is on its way.

  9. “I have little to no inclination to assist non-believers ….”

(shrug) “love your enemies” and all that.

well, they’re coming for you, and especially for your kids. I look forward to your idea of how to deal with that.

    1. Yes, I too am a Canadian, though I’ve lived in Asia for about 18 years as a teacher and now writer. On my brief trips back and in my reading I agree Canada is now a post-Christian, post-capitalist, & rapidly declining country where cultural Marxism reigns supreme. All institutions are being changed to reflect these values.

Canada is largely similar to the US, except there isn’t the massive corruption of a Democratic Party there. The corruption has occurred more insidiously over time do the blatant treason of the Democrats isn’t necessary. All that the Democrats are trying to do was achieved quietly, politely, under the radar years ago.

I’ve decided I’ll not live in Canada for retirement. I’d much prefer to live in Poland or Hungary. Even Russia is now an 85% very Christian country with democratic elections, etc. This angers the atheist globalist elite of the West.

It’s so strange remembering how all my aunts were churchgoing women, 3 of them sang in the choir in their churches, and their husbands worked in a dynamic capitalist economy. All of that has been quietly swept away. The process has accelerated under Trudeau.

Canada is now an atheist, globalist, multiculturalist, cultural Marxist state with an economy in free fall. Trump should move on from NAFTA and let Canadians believe the govt’s falsehoods. Canada’s economy is collapsing from negect and bad policy.

      1. There is a difference between loving your neighbors and assisting them at your own detriment. For instance I love you, though I don’t understand your viewpoints. As long as it is kept civil you can voice them, except in countries where that may be a problem. Or if the site owners have problems with them of course, since it is their property. Canada for instance doesn’t have freedom of speach. In Canada the author could be arrested for voicing his opinion on the subject. Someone would simply have to label it hate speach in some twisted way. This article may be directed towards Christians specifically, however there are many points that fundamentally affect all religions.

  10. Martin Luther taught a doctrine of two kingdoms, of both we are a part. The kingdom of the right is ours by Grace alone, fulsome and complete; it is finished, infinite, and inviolate. The kingdom of the left hand, however, is where we concurrently reside, a stormy and wretched world dominated by the base and natural evil of the heart.

Ten Four! 1 Cor. 10:4, that is!
And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

When all around me is sinking sand, on Christ the solid Rock I stand,
When I need a Shelter, when I need a Friend, I go to the Rock.
I go to the Rock of my salvation, the Stone that the builders rejected.

  11. As the governments of the world tear down everything Christian, moral and righteous they condone and support anything immoral, blasphemous and secular, they also ignore (or support) the threat or Radical Islam. We of the Christian World better wake up before it’s to late, IF it isn’t already to late. Study the history of the rise of Islam which lead up to the Crusades and you will see the Crusades were a very controlled response to a very dangerous situation

    1. Roger D, good observation; I too have come to that realization in life. My role is now relegated to being cheerleader for the younger generation, to keep their kids out of the government schools and educated by people who actually care about their eternal destiny.

  12. You are in my prayers brother. America is following right behind YOUR county. There is fewer christian conservatives in congress than ever. If we allow the progressive, socialist to take over, which it seems it is heading that way, then America as we knew it, will not be anymore! Very sad. I retarded now, that’s retired out of the US army. Watching my community, state, and country continuing to slide down that worm hole is killing me. Hang tough, pray, and until HE comes and takes us home, walk with our KING!

  13. When I was 30 I was a “respectable” unbeliever who was invited to dinner in a Christian home. Before we ate, the father said Grace. It wasn’t a 4-line ditty but a heart-felt prayer to God. I had never seen this before in my life! I’ve been a Christian now for 40 years and it’s still a work in progress but I’ve never forgotten the powerful impression of that Grace before dinner. I think closing off one’s home to people who are not (yet) “respectable Christians” might be a missed opportunity for witnessing.

  14. Did you see the recent quote of the Dalei Lama, “Europe is for Europeans ” meaning the Muslims should return to their homes to rebuild their countries. However the Muslims are doing their best to change the rest of the world for the Caliphate. Sorry to say it but even the Redoubt is being changed by the incoming folks from the “leftest” part of the country (I have already seen this happen in Florida, from the Lower Keys and now in the N Fl area.) . I was talking with a friend today about where in the WORLD is left to continue living as if we could start over with the Constitution and Bill of Rights of this country?

    1. “where in the world is left”

(laugh) you don’t get it. you are what they need. they’ll follow you wherever you go, climb over whatever barriers you put up, dig down into wherever you hide, all the while claiming you are oppressing them and that they have to stop you.

  15. Has anyone read Rod Dreher’s book The Benedict Option: A Strategy for Christians in a Post-Christian World? A very interesting book indeed. Although Dreher is an Orthodox Catholic, I think the strategy he outlines is valid.

One of the only things he says that I disagree with is, he advocates going back to what he calls a “robust historical liturgy”. What the Christian church around the world so desperately needs is the supernatural power of God as demonstrated by the Apostles in the Book of Acts, not some dead liturgical mumbo-jumbo.

Find a copy of the book (it was published in 2017) and read it, then pray hard.

As I see it, Christians are going to be marginalized in every way possible and it will all be made legal. We will have to live on the fringes of society (literally) as “outsiders” have been portrayed in so many dystopian movies. It will eventually be illegal to be a Christian. They will eventually force you to make a decision to accept a microchip or be thrown in prison or disappeared.

Western Christians have had it easy for far too long. The ultimate test of our faith in Christ is yet before us. Prepare accordingly.

    1. “What the Christian church around the world so desperately needs is the supernatural power of God as demonstrated by the Apostles in the Book of Acts”

which (ahem) seems to be singularly lacking everywhere for many centuries now ….

      1. Most Christians I’ve talked to about this point whine that “What the Apostles did back then is not for us today”. To which I ask “When, exactly, did God change?”

        They can’t answer my question.

        1. “they can’t answer my question”

really? the usual answer is “now that the bible is fully assembled the word of god is all we need”. seems more like a golden calf to me, but that’s the logic.

          1. Gman,
Its funny you should say “now that the bible is fully assembled the word of god is all we need”.

I literally heard that from the pulpit a few months ago. In Mark 16:17 Jesus said “And these signs shall follow them that believe…..and then lists several things, most of which, in todays “church”, are controversial and completely ignored. None of the things Jesus listed I have seen happen since I was a wee lad in the 70s.

I have heard Christians say that the “Laying on of hands does not work” among other equally ignorant things.

            Hmm.

Jesus said “they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.” Well, if it doesn’t work Jesus must have lied.

            The problem isn’t with Jesus….

Its sad what the “church” has become.

  16. I may have misunderstood the intent of this letter but my first impression was an us against them mindset. As a follower of Christ my job is to be a reflection of Christ to all around me. Our enemy is the devil, not other people. We are to be hospitable and to endeavor to show Gods love and the hope He gives us to all we meet. We are to be wise but Not live in fear. It is sad and disturbing to see all the changes taking place but our trust Must be in God. He is able to keep us and our children in His hands. My goal was to try and teach/ encourage my children that God is worth our all and that He doesn’t promise an easy life but He Does promise to go through everything He allows in it. We re not to live for this life but for eternity.

  17. Hi GMan,

I thought I said this series is about Christian Preppers.
I can only hope you are dillignently attacking Islam, Transgenderism, Atheism on their “Websites”. As vigiously as you do this one.

Have a nice day, and “Get off my Lawn”,

    Clint

    1. “I can only hope you are dillignently attacking Islam, Transgenderism, Atheism on their “Websites”.”

not as much, they censor any alternative views.

“As vigiously as you do this one.”

hard questions are not attacks. in any case if anyone can’t handle me then what do you think the other side will do to you?

      “get off my lawn.”

actually I think it’s rawles’ lawn.

    2. Mr. Ekert,
As a long-time reader and fellow contributor to SurvivalBlog, a few points:

The editors of this blog have graciously offered an option in which to respond to commenters. It is shown as a “REPLY” tab, positioned to the upper right of the comment box. This feature allows writers and other commenters to address directly the person with whom they wish to correspond. To slip in a comment at the bottom of the section, especially one directed at those with whom you disagree, may be construed as, shall we say, timorous.

SurvivalBlog is not an echo chamber where one simply swaddles themselves in blankets of self-righteous indignation and awaits affirming praises from the masses. With the exceptions of racist and hateful comments, the editors have seen to it that this forum remains a bastion of free speech. Gman was simply exercising his right to offer differing views. Your thinly veiled attempt to silence him with an Eastwood-esque “Get off my lawn” mirrors perfectly the tactics of the side you claim so vehemently to despise. As a writer in a public forum, you should welcome dissenting opinions, and use them as a chance to have a logical and rational debate.

As to your article, it reads like an invitation to a pity party, oozing with the guilt and self-loathing that has become so common with many Christians that have finally realized they have been silent and complacent for far too long. It is as if you just woke up from a long sleep and discovered your rights and way of life under attack, when in reality, we know this has been going on for a long time. You are pleading with your audience to hand you a fire extinguisher and they are trying to find a nice way to tell you the house has already burned down. I wish you and your fellow Canadians well.

    3. Wow.
      Attacking vs. Evangelizing.
      Big difference.
Protecting my family and my family’s future goes without saying, but in the context of God’s sovereignty and grace. Preaching the Gospel to the unsaved just like it was done for us before we were saved is a Christian privilege and calling. in my life as a Christian i have done both and i am sure i often do one when i should do the other.
Morality or being a conservative does not make me a Christian. Faith in Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection for my sins does.
I struggle with self righteousness constantly and i need to be reminded of what i really deserve. I also need to be reminded that i did not bring anything to the table. My salvation is purely by God’s grace through the cross of Jesus Christ.
i have been reading this blog for a long time and do not usually comment because of the back and forth and the arguments that can follow. It seems useless and doesnt accomplish what is desired. That said this is my experience and understanding. I hope my words help in some way and not antagonize.

  18. What happens when a people and society reject God? Their leaders then reflect that ideal and then you are lead by people who have reprobate minds. Sweden is a great example of this followed by Western Europe. Canada and the US are not far behind

Some societies embrace witchcraft and animism and the result of those types of societies are not hard to see. None are successful. The Marxist societies try to eliminated God and look what happened. Russia bounced back and some 70% of the country is now Christian and they are slowly turning around after decades of hellish communist existence.

[Zimbabwe the former] Rhodesia pushed out their white farmers and the country has been a basket case ever since. Venezuelans prayed to Hugo in school when they were served their free meals and now they are down to eating the family pets. South Africa will suffer the same fate.

Some homogeneous Asian societies are an exception like South Korea who has recently embrace Christianity and Japan who has not. China is on track to be the largest Christian population in the world despite their heavy persecution.

Islamic societies, in general, have great wealth disparities. You do not see great numbers of other religions and peoples flowing into their counties like the US.

The US, in time, may succumb to a Jacobin style Marxist Socialism where Christians who in reality have rejected the living God are heavily persecuted. I can see it growing more pronounced with plenty of outside money flowing in to project those values. A deep foundation has been laid by the education system.

Evangelical Christians have become Zionist Evangelicals looking to build a temple in Jerusalem and build out Israel. The wars they so loved over the years will be poured out upon their heads someday. Jesus is not coming back to a third temple built by Zionists. He is coming back to punish the evildoers of this age in which the Evangelicals have heartily participated..

There is a group of bloodthirsty revolutionaries growing unchecked in this country who would love to chop the heads of Christians Jacobin style. Some are gaining political office this round in the elections. As they pronounce their utopian society many will jump on board.

All in all we are in deep trouble on all fronts looking forward.

    1. I’m not sure where the evangelicals = zionists.

I’m pretty sure I read that a completely red cow was born, and confirmed in Israel recently. Yes, it was manufactured by scientists, but it was verified no less.

This is the biblical sacrifice needed to bless (don’t remember the terminology) the 3rd Temple and bring about the end of the world.

  19. That’s why socialism is so wrong. Your PM will not staff anyone that is not pro abortion nor pro gay. Socialism will not dole out food clothing or medical to the same Believers.

There are only two types of people. The Christian principaled and the Antichrist principled. The antichrist principled are extremely racist but will call out the Christians as racist. my wife and I go on missions trips all over the world and the only place we need to build houses for people and dig wells is in Africa. When you plug the most laid back race into the most sophisticated system (which was done after slavery in America) we have the government dole. That is a racist act to take farms from solely white people and hand them over to black people. But our trips to South Africa have that laid back race living in fields with no water. Just how are they going to upkeep a farm. Thay would have already had the wherewithal to upkeep a farm if they had the perseverance to obtain them prior to whites entering Africa. The farms will be utterly lost or destroyed if these leftists continue their racist acts.

That’s why capitalism is so righteous, there’s no racist acts but only hard work to achieve.

  20. Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
    — 2 Cor 10:5

  21. Hmmm, not sure where this leaves me, a Jewish kind of prepper. Would such a mind-set prevent meaningful cooperation between us to prevent a loss of Western Civilization (as is happening) let alone in the face a collapse of whatever flavor(s) WROL occurs? I have close friends in both the prep/vet and prep Christian communities and more short and long than my family has hands to wield (long-term loaners for those without when things become spicey) along with a closet full of the most precious of metals: lead. Such exclusionary diatribes are not unique and thus I am leaning towards strengthening my ties withthe pre/vet community. Such a loss for all; muslums will behead either of us with the same gusto, and the unpleasantness associated WROL will likewise affect us equally. We should be shoulder to shoulder building on our commonalities, not shunning due to our (granted large) differences. In short, would you rather traditional rabbi or a traditional iman as a neighbor?

The marginalization Judeo-Christion roots of Western Civ is another victim to the apparently successful Balkanization by the Left. Now to perhaps focus on the rabid Left that has been destroying the Jewish religion and synagogues.

    1. “Would such a mind-set prevent meaningful cooperation between us to prevent a loss of Western Civilization (as is happening) let alone in the face a collapse of whatever flavor(s) WROL occurs?”

so many cans of worms here just begging to be opened ….

in general, tribal religions are tribal races are tribal governments, and vice versa. to the extent that tribal religions continue, they simply cannot accommodate any other people or form of government. america is an attempt to form a non-religious non-tribal government, and this works so long as there is enough land and money and opportunity to go around – but in a time of scarcity and collapsing opportunity one can expect that that attempt at non-religious non-tribal government will be abandoned in favor of the tribe.

    2. Interesting thoughts. I’m a vet and what I will call a quiet Catholic. I teach my children, but do not walk around talking to people about my faith, or theirs.

I strive to live a decent life, one I won’t be embarrassed of when I pass, but generally dislike most organized religion due to their cash focused sermon. I’m not what many would call a friend. I’m ornery, honest, and neither bashful nor boastful. I’m the person everyone in the office knows, but no one knows. On the street, I’m largely invisible. I’m not memorable in a crowd.

I’d prep with you, Jew Dave. I prefer to focus on good people vs what ‘brand’ they are.

This is why the vet community is so alluring to many preppers. They fought and bled next to someone who wasn’t in their demographic, and called him brother. We also close ranks, and defend our own, since no one else will. In a way, vets and Jews are not that different. Somewhat closed communities that are marginalized by society, and protect their own.

  22. “I have little to no inclination to assist non-believers in either disaster preparation or in what is righteous”.Hmmm….,I am not a Christian and yet would help out anyone in need who seems a decent sort whether it is something as easy as a flat tire or a jump start to something of a much more dangerous to my health and well being in times of great challenges.Heck,I would do that even for a sigh……,Canadian.I do hope as the times become more challenging most Christians if they can without harm to their own family help others, otherwise, see no real point in surviving long term in only a barbaric blood bath.

    1. To Anon & James-

Exactly, as you both point out, there is need to avoid closing ranks without cause: “This is why the vet community is so alluring to many preppers. They fought and bled next to someone who wasn’t in their demographic, and called him brother.” Sort of like the 80%-20% rule – if we see eye to eye on 80%, we can probably get along just fine. In fact, I’m starting to think that the 20% of disagreement is very important to avoid living in an echo-chamber. Echo-chambers lead to group-think (eg how many ‘genders’ on Facebook?), and groups-think leads to atrocities. I think George Washington criterion was if someone wasnt stealing his wallet nor breaking his leg….

If there is a future WROL, to paraphrase again, let us hope that mutual aid is based on character and not the path one takes to righteousness. With the numerous threats out there, people of like minds need all the cooperation they can get, and avoid the barbaric blood bath James alludes to.

  23. >I have little to no inclination to assist non-believers in either disaster preparation or in what is righteous.

“As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” – Galations 6:10

“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.” – Matthew 5:44-45

  24. As regards “I have little to no inclination to assist non-believers … in what is righteous”, consider this:
Ephesians 1:4 “he chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. in love.”

I take that to mean we as Christians have no idea who has been elected, who had been chosen by God. And neither do they know, until they’ve heard, spiritually, not just verbally, the gospel. It could be a non-believer, a communist, a person who grew up in the church but never understood the true meaning of it. It could be anyone.

So it follows that witnessing to all is so important. To put the chosen into the path of truth. To enable God’s elect to make the choice of faith. It’s up to us to show them that choice. After that, it’s on them.

Consider some of the characters in the OT who were not always respectable and yet were chosen by God.

  25. I enjoy a lively discourse. Meeting each other’s disagreement allows us to grow srtong. And, we must grow strong to face what is ahead. In the meantime, one answer appears to me over and over.

It’s in the Gospel of Matthew chapter 25, 34-46

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

I am grateful for each of you.

    Carry on.

  26. Sir,
I am also grateful for your response. I feel that statements of “Inclusivity” pale in comparison to what is happening to Christians in South Africa.
For the record: I stand for all Christian peoples.
    God Bless,
    Clint
