Preparedness Notes for Thursday — October 22, 2020

This is the birthday of painter and book illustrator N.C. Wyeth (1882–1945).

This is also the birthday of actor Jeff Goldblum (born 1952), who had unforgettable roles in Buckaroo Banzai and in the Jurassic Park and Independence Day films.

I just noticed that Amazon.com has updated their ordering page for my latest book (The Ultimate Prepper’s Survival Guide) to read: Usually ships within 1 to 2 months.”  Sooooo… They apparently blew through their entire inventory in two days. (I just love Book Bomb days!) I really doubt that Simon & Schuster is going to want to do Amazon any favors, since the book is printed in Hong Kong and any subsequent print runs have a three-month lead time. This opens up some interesting possibilities for anyone who dabbles in retail arbitrage.  Given Amazon’s current corporate zero supply, enterprising folks can buy up stacks of copies at Costco stores, at $14.99 each and then re-sell them on Amazon or eBay for around $22 to $25 each, plus postage. And if the supply gets any tighter between now and Christmas, then the market price might get to $30+ each. Buy low and sell high, folks!

  1. Good morning

Just for giggles, I ordered 2 more copies of your new book just to see how long it takes for them to get here.
The first copy I ordered will be here today.
    Super stoked to get it!!
FYI, in the information section when I just ordered the extra copies it says that the publisher is Thunder Bay Press (October 22, 2020)?

    Have a Rockin great day!

  2. I got my copy last night and took a quick look thru. The book is larger than I expected, love the wire binding and the easily read font and size. Have not gone thru it page by page yet, but expect that Chapter 12, Checklist will turn out to be the favorite.

  3. Good afternoon

I just got my copy of the new book!!

WOW!! This is incredible! I stopped looking through it long enough to write my review on Amazon.
I’m now really glad I ordered 2 more copies (even if they get here whenever).

Thank you JWR (and Lily too)! For giving this community such a treasure

    Have a Rockin great evening!!

    1. We had no control over it. That was the publisher’s decision. Jim did request that it be published here in the USA or in England. By treaty, Hong Kong doesn’t doesn’t revert back to China until 2047, though China is presently trying to take over Hong Kong.
