Preparedness Notes for Sunday — November 22, 2020

Today is remembered as the birthday of the late Eugene M. Stoner. (Born 1922, died April 24, 1997.) He was the designer of the AR-7, AR-10, AR-15, AR-180, the Stoner 63, and several other firearms. (The AR-10 was the basis of the AR-15 which in turn spawned the very widely used M16 and all of its variants including the M4 Carbine.) It has been estimated that as many as 18 million rifles from the AR-15 family are owned by civilians in the United States, and military production M16 variants worldwide exceeds eight million rifles.

  1. Saw this this morning:

“Dear Employees: As the CEO of this organization, I have resigned myself to the fact that Joe Biden is our President and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way. To compensate for these increases, our prices would have to increase by about 10%. But, since we cannot increase our prices right now due to the dismal state of the economy, we will have to lay off sixty of our employees instead. This has really been bothering me since I believe we are family here and I didn’t know how to choose who would have to go. So, this is what I did. I walked through our parking lots and found sixty ‘Biden Harris’ bumper stickers on our employees’ cars and have decided these folks will be the ones to let go. I can’t think of a more, fair way to approach this problem. They voted for change……I gave it to them. I will see the rest of you at the annual company picnic.”

  2. Mr. Stoner, a later version of J M Browning of 1911 fame. How many iteration of the 1911 are there out there, as well as other offshoots of his designs, rifle and handgun. How many iterations of the AR are out there and all the offshoots it has led to.

St Funogas; that is destined to be a classic – what goes around comes around. How appropriate. That is an uplifting note needed badly at this time. Many thanks.

  3. A friend contacted me this morning about shortwave radio and what to buy and what kind of antenna to use. His concerned that his favorite news source might not be available on the net. This could be a long and boring topic. Of course there are many good instructional videos on the topic. This is only one I sampled and like, but choose one that appeals to yourself. Get different perspectives if necessary.
