JWR’s Recommendations of the Week:

Here are JWR’s Recommendations of the Week for various media and tools of interest to SurvivalBlog readers. The focus is usually on emergency communications gear, bug out bag gear, books and movies–often with a tie-in to disaster preparedness, and links to “how to” self-sufficiency videos. There are also links to sources for both storage food and storage containers. You will also note an emphasis on history books and historical movies. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. This week the focus is on a simple way to split kindling, as recommended by Cody, aka Wranglerstar. (See the Instructional Videos & Vlogs section.)

Instructional Videos & Vlogs:

A new Wranglerstar video: A Simple Way To Split Kindling. JWR’s Comments: Note the reverse thread direction and the large shank. Thus, these will only work if you have a reversible drill with a 1/2-inch shank capacity. Since they are mild steel, it is important to keep these lubricated, to prevent rust. At just $7.95 each, postage paid, these mill heads cum drill heads are a bargain.

At the JPFO Web Site: Is Kristallnacht Deceptive? Here is a pericope:

“At a recent presentation on Kristallnacht (at a Jewish reform temple of all places), people sat literally wallowing in self-pity, quietly absorbing (for the umpteenth time) projected images of Nazi atrocities, the atrocity leader and his cohorts, insisting we must remember. Never Forget they droned.

Should we do anything about it, be Maccabees, fearless freedom fighters, stalwart guardians against those waiting for a chance to repeat history? Were they gearing up for resistance, steeling their nerves for battle, preparing to defend against those bragging and tooling up and drooling to do it all again?

No glimmer of defiant behavior was evident. Resistance was repugnance. Watch, remember… and be depressed. Never forget, they admonished. What happened to Never Again! someone asked? It wasn’t present. Jews there complained at the thought.”

  1. Thanks for the link above to the JPFO site and the article re; Kristallnacht. I’d never heard of this group before and was pleased to learn of them. Sadly, most US Jews are “Progressives” and virulently anti-gun which of course, given history, is insane. Had the Jews of Europe been armed things would likely have been much different. US Jews for the most part are acutely uncomfortable with an Israel that has a strong, powerful and well-trained military and lots of Jews, including the liberal secular ones, being well versed in handling and using some serious weaponry. I for one take comfort(and pride) in sharing a bus or train when in Israel packed full of young Israeli’s heading home for leave(or returning to base) while casually wearing their rifles. Never forget sure, but also never again!

  2. re:
    ‘wallowing in pity’

At the gym two days ago, one of the television sets in the locker room was broadcasting music video programming.
I always turn my back to televisionprogramming, but out of the corner of my ear, I heard the lyric:
“…hate me, hate me, tell me how you hate me…”.
At home at the farm, I researched the song.
During the intro, the performer, a miss Goulding, says the lyric “…came to me as I worshipped with my people…”

  3. RE: Jack Ryan Season 2
I enjoyed Tom Clancy’s work greatly in the 80’s and 90’s, but as time has gone on I’ve realized how much “intelligence state” propaganda they contain. I have learned to be as distrustful of media that have too much cheerleading for the neocon military industrial complex as media that has too much cheerleading for progressive viewpoints.
I somewhat enjoyed Jack Ryan season 1, it was a decent terror thriller without demonizing all Muslims although it was right on the line of “CIA white knights save the day.” I found season 2 to be much poorer writing, as the plot twists itself into knots to put the characters in Venezuela, where the story plays out like a Council on Foreign Relations wet dream of regime change.
    I was not impressed.

  4. While I have sympathy with the Hongkong protestors, I do not believe that an all out world war with China is in any bodies interests certainly not ours. There are causes like this all over the planet all the time. Sometimes letting these things work out on their own is the only practical answer. It is their problem and I wish them well but we can pretty much guess the outcome, it was their decision to take up a lost cause.

      1. Wikipedia, has an article about “Just War Theory” ~> “The purpose of the doctrine is to ensure war is morally justifiable through a series of criteria, all of which must be met for a war to be considered just.”

        Some considerations are:
        1. Probability of success
        Arms may not be used in a futile cause or in a case where disproportionate measures are required to achieve success;

        2. Proportionality
The anticipated benefits of waging a war must be proportionate to its expected evils or harms. This principle is also known as the principle of macro-proportionality, so as to distinguish it from the jus in bello principle of proportionality.
In modern terms, just war is waged in terms of self-defense, or in defense of another (with sufficient evidence).

There is more to the Wikipedia article about Just War Theory. Plus, the Internet has more information too.
        ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

President Trump has spoken about the US involvement in ‘Endless Wars’ repeatedly. The US can defeat enemies, but it also has to also >change cultures to actually ‘win’ the war.

President Trump seems to have an awareness that it’s possible to ‘win’ a war; yet condemn many souls to hell at the same time, because of all the death and suffering. A win isn’t dead people, and the superficial obedience by the survivors.

It’s a difficult decision to engage in any War, with the certainty of physical and spiritual death facing many of the people affected. A great leader shows >concern for other people, and tries to avoid engaging in a war.
That said, there are times when ‘plowshares must be turned into swords.’ = Yet,
this might NOT be the time for a war with China.

  5. Re: jack ryan series. I did not watch it after two male actors put a lip lock on each other. I’ve noticed both ryan and the series “designated survivor” got into promoting the homosexual agenda. It won’t be long before that will all that will be available. maranatha.

  6. Hong Kong- Is part of the sovereign country of China. The British 99 year lease was up in 1997. Anything that happens in Hong Kong should not be a surprise to anyone. It’s kind of late and hypocritical to be upset “now”. JMHO

    1. deanq,
I agree with your statement. As harsh as it sounds, we all have choices to make and unfortunately they made theirs against a formidable foe. We have no business interfering with American assets.

  7. Hong Kong is a British problem. Let the Brits take care of their problems. The entire middle east is a British and French problem, let the Brits and the French take care of the problems they created for themselves. We have actual history to tell us this is all true.

“Peace, commerce, honest friendship with all nations; entangling alliances with none.” Thomas Jefferson, March 4, 1801. His first inaugural address. Had we heeded that sage advice for the last 150 years or so, especially since the beginning of the 20th century, we as a nation would be a whole lot better off both morally and financially.

There is no reason for the US to get in the middle between Hong Kong and China. None! There is no reason for the US to get in the middle between Taiwan and China. None! There is no reason for the US to take sides in a war between Sunni and Shia Islam. None! Let them all kill each other off, let God sort it out. It is time for the US to stop taking sides where we do not belong. For the sake of our peace and our prosperity, our actions, or more correctly our government’s actions, desperately need to be curtailed. This is not isolationism, it is just common sense.

    1. Charles K., I must agree with you. It is time for the US to stop taking sides where we do not belong. For the sake of our peace and our prosperity, our actions, or more correctly our government’s actions, desperately need to be curtailed. This is not isolationism, it is just common sense.

Many fine American men have been sacrificed to our country’s interventionism. Some would call it imperialism.

      Carry on

  8. The “Three days book” seems to ignore(I have not read it,but looked at the reviews)that FDR and his staff were well past “Lend Lease” and commiting treason for the Soviets(sending prohibited goods and aiding spies(sent half the US supply of Uranium, shut Newark airport to civilian use, tons of intelligence reports including Manhattan project secrets were flown to Moscow). See the book Maj. Jordans Diaries for more information,he was the US -Russian liasion officer for lend -lease aircraft shipping and documented the abuses(the Russians almost tried to have Texas’ flag changed for the star)
