The Editors’ Quote of the Day:

“The meteorites of 1908 and 1947 had struck uninhabited wilderness; but by the end of the twenty-first century there was no region left on Earth that could be safely used for celestial target practice.”  – Arthur C. Clarke, in Rendezvous with Rama

    1. If you believe government can make a difference, check this out. I have nurses in my family and want safety for all those hard-working blessed angels.

Right now, hospitals are asking nurses to battle the COVID-19 pandemic with little to no protection. Nurses and other health care professionals are working painfully long hours to care for patients and contain this virus—sometimes with nothing more than a bandana to protect themselves.

At a moment when we are asking nurses and other health care workers to step up and protect people, we must be able to protect them in return and give them the equipment they need to combat COVID-19 safely.

Congress is set to vote on a third COVID-19 relief package this week, and it’s crucial that H.R. 6139, the Worker Protection Act of 2020, is included in that package. Will you call your House representative now to demand H.R. 6139 is included and passed?

To call Congress, use our COVID-19 national hotline:
      → Dial (202) 335-6015 ←
You can use this sample script when you call:

“Hi, my name is ______ and I’m a constituent of yours calling from (city/town). I’m calling to ask my representative to please demand that H.R. 6139, the COVID-19 Worker Protection Act of 2020, be included in the next COVID-19 omnibus bill and vote YES on the House floor. It is crucial that we take action to protect frontline health care workers, patients, and the public during this COVID-19 crisis. This bill would direct OSHA to enact an Emergency Temporary Standard so that frontline nurses and other health care workers have the personal protective equipment they need to care for their patients during this pandemic. If nurses become infected they won’t be there when you and your loved ones need them. Thank you.”

      Carry on in grace

    1. Hi Ani Yes and if you look closely one of the few dark areas in the east is WV
We have less than 2 million people in the whole state. Cut off our panhandles and it cuts off Wheeling WV near Pittsburgh and DC suburbs in our eastern panhandle. We have Charleston in the middle of the state and Huntington in the west but 5 minutes from either town and you can be in our “hollers”. We are proud hillbillies and many are preppers naturally without even knowing the prepper lifestyle. That’s just us. Gardens guns and bibles
