Economics & Investing For Preppers

Here are the latest news items and commentary on current economics news, market trends, stocks, investing opportunities, and the precious metals markets. We also cover hedges, derivatives, and obscura. Most of these items are from the “tangibles heavy” contrarian perspective of SurvivalBlog’s Founder and Senior Editor, JWR. Today, we look at the market for deactivated guns, in England. (See the Tangibles Investing section.)

Tangibles Investing:

I missed this when it was posted back in June: Vickers WW1 gun bought for £1k ‘now worth nothing’. JWR’s Comments:  It is pitiful watching the British gun community bicker over what various deactivated guns are worth, and whether or not they were deactivated in a particular manner that pleases their overlords. To make it clear, these are guns that have steel rods driven down their bores and welded in place, with the locking lugs of their bolts ground off, and with their actions welded shut. I sincerely hope that we don’t end up in the same position, a decade from now. Our Founding Fathers intended us to have fully capable arms suitable for a robust militia, not just some decorative, non-functional wall hangers!  I have no interest whatsoever in buying “dummy” guns, and I discourage my readers from doing so.

News from local news outlets that is missed by the news wire services is especially appreciated. And it need not be only about commodities and precious metals. Thanks!

  1. The inexorable global movement toward the power-controlling elite ruling everyone means that God-fearing Christians need to make solid moves to fully integrate as involved graymen and women.

Living in a Redoubt is a great strategy and I loved the decades there while we raised our kids.

But as others have said, we who are setting up future lives here behind enemy lines to combat socialist rulers already in place- would appreciate more support for our bitter struggle to defeat the enemy where it exists.

So the comments about fleeing kommifornia, which applies to the entire left coast where we are, are truthful but as fellow Patriots you would be much more beneficial if we integrated supporting comments into our communications.

I ask the readers to work hard mentally to shift focus to be team players and support Patriots you haven’t even met, with team building comments and suggestions.

Tunnel Rabbit comes to mind in this regard. I treasure how he has put so much time and thought into helping each of us build individual capabilities which formation of networks of self-reliant groups compound to our collective patriot survival.

I am very grateful to all of you who have done the same.

Each time we read the latest trend in global insecurity, we must make our response to be renewed vigor in building up our Patriot community resilience, starting with mental team support. If your heart isn’t in this, you sadden me.

Our community needs your support in this to grow for our nation, meaning Patriot nation rather than country, to enable our country to survive.

Revelations is very clear, as are the prophecies of Isaiah and others, and in the words of Yeshua himself in Matthew 24. When Jesus spoke of “your flight”, it should be clear to you that the tribulation will come to the world in a spasmodic and scattered fashion rather than everywhere on the same day.

Our hearts and minds need to be open to God’s people on a mutual, supporting basis.

If you are not in a good relationship with the Holy Trinity, frankly you have limited dependability. My prayer is that each of you does come into that full relationship because each of you is a treasure, and should be fully valued as such.

When someone expressed surprise that I volunteered to go to Afghanistan at age 51, I explained that I just couldn’t continue to stay and guard my barbecue grill in the backyard.

I feel that way still, regarding my occupation of ground in the wickedly governed state of Washington. I will fight by all legal means to be a Godly, Patriotic Patriarch right here in the front of enemy lines.

Please consider my words seeking friendship and support for us who are fighting the enemy at their stronghold. This fight is your fight too.

Thank you for being, and may God Bless you all.

    1. Well said, brother. As one who is “blooming where I am planted”, though I would prefer to live elsewhere, I continue to nurture the community around me.

Complaining about what is will not get me to what could be. That takes work and risk.

      Carry on

  2. Regarding the Aramco IPO: It seems to me that the only reason they would possibly do this is because they have already reached Peak Production. Why would anyone possibly sell shares and the world’s most productive cow ( which they have held an absolute monopolistic control the upon) unless they knew that the milk production was going to decline and we’re looking for suckers to buy in after the Glory Days were past? I believe it’s be far more likely that they are looking to bilk as much money from as many investors as possible before production goes down and stays down. If they can have an injection of two trillion dollars before that happens, then they get a nice fat nest egg. What do the investors get? Diminishing returns. And perhaps a lesson in caveat emptor. Can you even imagine how upsetting it would be if you were an investor who bought into this only to have the oil field destroyed by terroristic action 12 months later. Oy vey!

    1. BGF, the Saudis were over peak production 10+ years ago(pumping 50% injection water). Your assessment is correct, they want to goat rope a bunch of suckers before it goes dry. The fabulous job the House of Saud has done investing a incredible fortune(white robe welfare (don’t ask a Saudi to work), jetset lifestyle, booze (muslims drink? Only top shelf), hookers and nose candy), now if they can’t keep it up they go from head choppers to choppees. 2T will set them up for final jet ride to apartments in Paris.

    2. Aramco currently has a stream of revenue going into out years. That stream is uncertain, both from the production perspective and if there will be anyone who wants to buy it. They can’t spend future revenue now easily. By selling Aramco the Saudi’s convert the future stream of revenue into a big pot of money now which they can spend now or when they see fit. Hard to say what all their reasons are. I wouldn’t buy the stock.
