To be prepared for a crisis, every Prepper must establish goals and make both long-term and short-term plans. In this column, the SurvivalBlog editors review their week’s prep activities and planned prep activities for the coming week. These range from healthcare and gear purchases to gardening, ranch improvements, bug-out bag fine-tuning, and food storage. This is something akin to our Retreat Owner Profiles [1], but written incrementally and in detail, throughout the year. We always welcome you to share your own successes and wisdom in your e-mailed letters. We post many of those — or excerpts thereof — in the Odds ‘n Sods Column or in the Snippets column. Let’s keep busy and be ready!
Jim Reports:
I got back to my annual firewood cutting, splitting, and stacking project. All of the firewood that we will need for this winter is now in our woodshed close to our ranch house. There is, of course, also a big reserve of wood for subsequent winters under tarps, but that is farther away from the house. We’ll only get into that reserve wood if we have an exceptionally hard winter.
I helped Lily prep our east sheep shed for winter. She had already hauled out nearly all of the manure mixed soiled bedding/waste hat. My part of the job involved scraping the floor down to bare soil, scorching the soil with our big propane torch wand, shoveling three wheelbarrow loads of gravel around the base of the shed’s exterior walls where there were some light gaps, and spreading two wheelbarrow loads of clay around the base of the interior walls and on the floor of the shed. All that it needs now is some fresh straw bedding, and then it will be nice and snug again, for winter.
I topped off all of our fuel cans and had one 20-pound prone cylinder refilled. It looks like we haven’t yet seen the top in the fuel price spike!
Now, Lily’s part of the report…
Avalanche Lily Reports:
Dear Readers,
We had gorgeous sunny bluebird skies this week with temperature highs of seventy-five degrees and temperature lows of forty one degrees Fahrenheit.
This week I don’t feel that I have done as much as previous weeks. It was a bit more relaxing this week. I spent more time absorbing the sunshine this week sitting on our cement pad, reading the Word of God.
When not relaxing this week, I cleaned out the Dairy sheep pen, and the hen house, twice. I kept up with the general house cleaning, sweeping, vacuuming and washing the floors, laundry, dishes and of course cooking all of our meals by scratch.
One afternoon, we hosted a friend and her mom for lunch. Then Miss Violet and I and them went canoeing/kayaking in our Unnamed River for the afternoon. It was a wonderful time of fellowship together. The river was gorgeous, crystal clear. One could see many schools of Bull Trout in the deep pools. The Bull Trout come up our river in the fall to spawn. For the first time in a few years, I felt like I was seeing a greater number of them than I had been seeing in past years. I was happy about that. The only other wildlife that we saw were some ducks.
I finished pulling the carrots and weed whacked their bed and weed whacked a few paths in the red raspberries and the rest of the garden paths.
I pulled weeds and hoed the Winter Garden beds and pre-positioned the PVC pipes to build the covered hoop house over it, in the days to come.
I rotated the sprinkler around the garden this week to keep everything well watered.
We plan to butcher the Yearling Bull calf later this week with Number One son and his family. So the end of the week will be very busy.
Today, Tuesday is the “Observed” Yom Kippur. We are observing it today. I say “observed” because Rosh Hashana is to be celebrated at the first sighting of the sliver of the New moon, according to the scriptures. Not during the two day darkened phase of the moon cycle of which the Rabbinics observe. The Rabbinics celebrated it on Monday, yesterday. They are not following God’s mandate. Though to be honest we messed up this Rosh Hashana and just celebrated it on Saturday and not on Sunday the correct day. That would have been two shabbats in a row, which is what the rabbinics always try to avoid. And we fell into that trap this time. Anyhow we are trying to observe the Biblical mandates not the rabbinic ones.
We and our Shabbat Bible study believe that Jesus may return during the Fall of 2028 at Rosh Hashana. In just TWO YEARS TIME!
Because our God is an exact God and has an Exact Time table that we can know. His Time table is based on the Jubilee cycles starting from the day Adam was created.
From the day Adam was created to the end of the Age of Grace is 120 Jubilee cycles: or multiply 120 by 50 and you get 6000 years. Genesis 6:3 God says,
“And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.”
Further several places in scripture say that a thousand years is as a day and a day is as a thousand years.
God bases his time frame on the week, Six days shalt though labor and the seventh day that shalt rest.
The Age of Grace is six thousand years or six days. The Sabbath is on the seventh day and the Millennium when Jesus rules and reigns over the earth is the seventh day lasting a thousand years. This is another Jubilee cycle of twenty Jubilees bringing this dispensation from Adam until the end of the Millennium seven thousand years or 140 Jubilee cycles.
Jubilee cycles are counted from one Yom Kippur/Day of Atonement to the next. Leviticus 25:9:
“Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land.”
Anyhow, this short [2] video comes to the same date conclusion of 2028 being the year of Jesus’ return through a different date based on Ezekiel Chapter 40:1. Very interesting!
May your names be engraved in the Book of Life this week.
May You All Remain Safe, Blessed, and Hidden in Christ Jesus,
– Avalanche Lily, Rawles
