A SurvivalBlog reader in North Dakota wrote me, bemoaning the ban on most incandescent light bulbs over 25 watts in the United States. He complained that both compact fluorescent and LED bulbs bother his eyes. Thankfully, there is a solution, at least for one type of bulb. There is an exception in the Federal incandescent bulb ba [5]n for “rough service” incandescent bulbs. At eBay.com, simply put this phrase in the Search box: Case of 120 GE 75w rough service light bulbs. Stock up! – JWR

Blog reader H.B. wrote to inquire about the planned release dates for my sequels in the Counter-Caliphate Chronicles novel series. I already have two of them nearly written. My plan is to re-release Land Of Promise in January, 2027, as an e-book bonus to the 2005-2026 SurvivalBlog archive waterproof USB stick. Lord willing, that will be followed with at least three sequels at one year intervals — also as USB stick bonus books — as follows:
- Flag of Freedom, January, 2028
- Piece of Resistance, January, 2029
- Limits of Power, January, 2030
The sad truth is that Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing and generative AI have completely ruined the market for hard-copy novels by flooding the publishing world with atrocious schlock. So I don’t plan to release any of my new Counter-Caliphate Chronicles books in paperback or hardback. The only way that you’ll be able to read them is by purchasing an archive USB stick. But I think that given the large number of other bonus books included on the +/-$29 USB sticks, that is a fair proposition. Consider that many e-books are now selling for $12.99, trade paperback novel prices are pushing $18.99, and hardbacks are now selling for $32.99 or more. – JWR
