Preparedness Notes for Wednesday — February 14, 2024

On February 14, 1946, the first general-purpose high-speed electronic digital computer, the ENIAC [1] (Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer), was demonstrated to the public by its creators, J. Presper Eckert, Jr. [2], and John W. Mauchly [3].

February 14, 1942 was the birthday of the late economist, theologian, and prepper Dr. Gary North.

February 14, 2018, amid scandals and corruption allegations, South African President Jacob Zuma [4] resigned and was later replaced by Cyril Ramaphosa.

More than $875,000 worth of prizes have been awarded since we started running this contest. In 2023, we polled blog readers, asking for suggested article topics [18]. Refer to that poll if you haven’t yet chosen an article topic. Round 111 ends on March 31st, so get busy writing and e-mail [19] us your entry. Remember that there is a 1,500-word minimum, and that articles on practical “how-to” skills for survival have an advantage in the judging.
