Preparedness Notes for Tuesday — October 31, 2023

On October 31, 1941, after nearly 15 years of work, the Mount Rushmore National Memorial [1] in the Black Hills [2] of South Dakota [3] was completed; the colossal sculpture features the heads of Presidents George Washington [4], Thomas Jefferson [5], Theodore Roosevelt [6], and Abraham Lincoln [7]. (Photo above, by Dean Franklin.)

As Christians, our family does not celebrate the pagan Halloween. Since October 31st is also Reformation Day [8], that is what we celebrate, here at the Rawles Ranch.

I just heard that Siege Belts has created a new coupon code: “SBLOG” for Survivalblog readers to get $20 off the price of any regularly priced belt, with no quantity limits! See: ExpeditionDepot.com [9]).

More than $850,000 worth of prizes have been awarded since we started running this contest. We recently polled blog readers, asking for suggested article topics [24]. Refer to that poll if you haven’t yet chosen an article topic. Round 109 ends on November 30th, so get busy writing and e-mail [25] us your entry. Remember that there is a 1,500-word minimum, and that articles on practical “how-to” skills for survival have an advantage in the judging.
