The Survivalist’s Odds ‘n Sods

SurvivalBlog presents another edition of The Survivalist’s Odds ‘n Sods— a collection of news bits and pieces that are relevant to the modern survivalist and prepper from “JWR [1]”. Our goal is to educate our readers, to help them to recognize emerging threats, and to be better prepared for both disasters and negative societal trends. You can’t mitigate a risk if you haven’t first identified a risk. Today, we look at a potential tyrannical expansion of the No Fly List.

DHS May Add “Domestic Extremists” to No-Fly List

Over at NBC News:  DHS weighing major changes to fight domestic violent extremism, say officials [2]. JWR’s Comments: If the Biden regime has its way, then anyone who is deemed Politically Incorrect, an Enemy of the State, or otherwise Unreliable will soon see their ability to travel, serve in the military, own a gun, work, or use an Internet media platform sharply curtailed. Beware. This is how 21st Century tyranny could be established. (A hat tip to SaraSue for the article suggestion.)

The La Soufriere Volcanic Eruption

Linked over at the Whatfinger.com  [3]news aggregation site: Sky Turned Black:  La Soufriere eruption – Pics show 20,000ft ash cloud spew from St Vincent volcano as thousands flee and flights grounded [4]. An excerpt:

“Thousands of people on the Caribbean island of St Vincent were forced to evacuate their homes on Friday following the eruption of the La Soufriere volcano.

Officials ordered locals to leave as experts said the ash column rose over 20,000 feet high, with most of the burning hot smoke heading into the Atlantic Ocean.

Heavy ashfalls was also reported in communities around the volcano, with authorities saying some of the evacuations were called due to poor visibility.

Flights into the island nation were canceled, as well as those for the nearby islands of Barbados, St. Lucia and Grenada, which are all prepared for light ashfall.”

Biden Team Urging Development of COVID-19 ‘Passports’

C.B. sent us this: Biden administration working with industry to develop COVID-19 ‘passports’ as vaccinations progress [8]. This piece begins:

“Along with private technology [9] and travel [10] companies, the Biden [11] administration is working to develop credentials – referred to as passports, health certificates or travel passes – showing proof of vaccination as individuals and businesses emerge from lockdown, the Washington Post reported Sunday.

Airline [12] and business groups had been lobbying the White House [13] to take the lead in setting standards for health passes. They believe that would avoid a hodgepodge of regional credentials that could cause confusion among travelers and prevent any single health certificate from being widely accepted.”

Europe Rights Court Backs Obligatory Vaccinations

And lastly, Karen B. sent us this, over at Barron’s: Europe Rights Court Backs Obligatory Vaccinations [15]. Here is a quote:

“The European Court of Human Rights ruled hursday that democratic governments can make vaccinations obligatory, in a landmark judgement rejecting complaints brought by Czech families penalised for refusing compulsory jabs for their children.

It is the first time, since its creation in 1959, that the ECHR delivered a judgment about compulsory vaccination against childhood diseases.

Experts say it could have implications for Covid-19 vaccination policies although the Czech cases were lodged between 2013-2015, well before the current pandemic, and concern the vaccination of young children.

“The… measures could be regarded as being ‘necessary in a democratic society'” the court ruled, saying that the Czech health policy was consistent with the “best interests” of children.”
