Glad to see a family member of Ralph Stanley is a regular of SB! As a fan, I was confused when I saw your name, and wondered if you could clear up my confusion: I thought Ralph had 4 children from his third marriage; two sons named Ralph II and Tim, and two daughters named Lisa and Tonya. I know he was married twice before. Were you a son from a previous marriage?

Ralph and my mother never married. To the best of my knowledge, I’m the youngest. Ralph II is 10 months older than me. Tim isn’t Jimmie’s and Ralph’s son, but Ralph’s from a previous marriage. Ralph also has another daughter named Michelle from his time in Florida. Carter also has at least one other daughter than I’m aware of. We all stay in touch, from time to time. Ralph and my mother never married. Ralph II is ten months older than me. Tim, to the best of my knowledge, is Ralph’s son from his marriage prior to Jimmy. Ralph also has a daughter, Michelle, who lives in Florida. She is the oldest of us as far as I know. We keep in semi-frequent contact with one another.

One of my fondest memories is seeing Dr. Stanley and the Clinch Mtn Boys sing at the winery in Florida in 2012. The family was so warm and sweet to all of us that night.

I will keep saying this:
* some of the tax-burning loudmouths in Salem, Eugene, and Portland are nincompoops, and deserve a ‘special place’ to nincompoopery each other.
Those few individuals have nothing in common with the rest of us.
Any artificial line — state, county, federal — includes a tiny minority of tax-burning loudmouth flakes and a seething quietly-raging majority of tax-paying work-going bill-paying decent folk.
And please, do not get me started on Oregon unelected governess Kate ‘Moonbeam’ Brown… or her dictates.
Missy Moonbeam deserves a special ‘special place’.

I hadn’t heard Ralph Stanely music before this post, but have now listened to many of his songs. “I’ll Fly Away,” and “This Little Light of Mine,” are two of my favorites. I call them happy music.
