As far as I can tell, there are still CMH recipients on the books officially that were awarded for putting bullets in the backs of women and children at Wounded Knee. Even if they have since been rescinded (and I cannot find proof they have been), it is still a disgrace to the award that they were ever given those medals in the first place. They should’ve been taken to the firing line and shot for their actions .

Wounded Knee was not what that book says it was. The Indians were trying to rally to go to war. A chief had convinced the Indians that his power would make them immune to bullets. The Army tried to turn them back to the reservation but they refused to return. The temperature was very cold and getting colder putting the lives of the army and the Indians at risk and the army had no choice but to act and not wait. When the army started to move in to take the weapons from the Indians someone fired first and the melee began on both sides. But I guess whoever writes the book first gets to make the story the way they want it to be perceived.

If anybody is into wikileaks, looks like they just dumped Everything online. Everything. No telling how long this would all take to go through.

One guy, as a former member of that regiment (VN), I can attest to what you say as true, insofar as I have been able to research it. The whole [propaganda] routine of troopers killing women and children indiscriminately, started in the 70’s with the AIM movement in the Dakotas and Montana. It was also cemented in peoples minds by the movie, “Little Big Man”, which if you recall is the purported account of a man surviving Little Big Horn, a fiction. Dustin Hoffman, the star of that movie, is a committed Hollywood leftist. If anyone contacts the
5th Bn , 7th Cavalry Association, they can connect you with a great number of accounts of the 1890 fight. People in this country have swallowed the slander from this for too long. One should note the timing of this rendition and the protests of VN at the same time, in which people who had known me all my life, assumed I was a baby killer while in VietNam simply because I was assigned to the 7th Cavalry.

I don’t believe everything I read, but when things are heating up and starting to burn it puts a certain stench in the air. I smell something [not so] funny and it stinks! As a former lab worker [read: former sheeple] I am very much opposed to all this Frankenstein hell[th] care.

Covert Comms, and N.V.I.S. (Near Verticle Incident Skywave) attennas.

At the bottom is a fantastic article on ”covert comms”. Because he should be concerned with being DF’ed, I would use a NVIS antenna at home and on the vehicle. These HF antennas are very inexpensive, and easy to deploy. And because they can be at ground level, this antenna can be invisible to an HOA. 9 feet is the optimal height for a 40 meter NVIS antenna, yet it can be as low as the ground itself. However, the closer to the ground, the more the RX/TX is attenuated. However, the signal to noise ration is very good allowing one to hear a weak signal, ala’ a BOG antenna.

Attenuation can be over come somewhat with higher power settings and fine the correct power setting that helps avoid interception. Mountains, and bodies of water can be used make a direction finding attempt more difficult as well. NVIS antennas were used extensively in Vietnam, and are actually a part of the iconic image of a Jeep with a very long antenna bent over top of the vehicle. We can also use the ground wave of a NVIS antenna to talk locally. A 160 meter NVIS antenna would be nearly impossible to DF, even with the best equipment. For local communications we would not be concerned with atmospheric conditions, or we could use a fading D layer to attenuate a signal as the sun sets or rises. Although not as reliable as VHF for local comms, it is awesome advantage that is too often over looked. However, as awareness grows, more interest in NVIS is evident. When I discovered it over a decade ago, there was little information available. There now plenty. Use it or loose it before the net goes down.

Hey Tunnel Rabbit, communication is probably my weakest point. I’ve tried doing the ham online study but still don’t really understand it. What are your recommendations for a numb skull to get halfway good?

All I can do is tell you what works for me. I use a book instead of online. I start from the beginning and won’t turn a page till I fully understand everything on it. Sometimes I’ll spend a very long time on just one paragraph or section, but I keep at it. My head is made up of mostly bone, so it takes awhile, but if I can do it, anyone can. If you skip ahead without understanding what came before, it becomes very confusing and discouraging. Hope this helps.

If the usual approach did not work for you, find an on-line Tech test and keep taking the test over, and over to memorized the correct answers. You do not have to understand it, just have a good memory. The test should change each time, but there are only so many versions of it. When you start scoring 100 percent, you are ready for the real thing. Even if they have questions that you did not see on-line, you will get the answer right on those that are the same, and end up with at least a passing score.

A comment tangent to the Wounded Knee Massacre.
Rush Limbo (The Radio Host) is frequently confronted with a caller angrily describing an event in early American History. The angry caller is also using the past event as a cudgel, to start ranting about current events, and to ‘beat’ on the people alive today, because of something that occurred long-ago in history.

Rush Limbo responds with this concept:
‘People will use past events to justify their anger and hatred for people ~>today.’
He doesn’t argue the past events, in terms of validating the caller’s hatreds; he discusses the present situation.

[Rush Limbo does talk about his appreciation for the people in history, that sacrificed to make America and our culture. He does NOT justify evil behavior.]
For some reason, angry callers think groups of people and individuals are culpable for the sins occurring in the past long ago.

A question to ask people ranting about long-ago past events is, “What’s your point about people living today, and the events occurring right now?”
I would question the sanity of people, that tear down statutes of people in American history, while also expressing anger and hatred for people and institutions today. … [Many of the statute destroyers seem to want a society more like Communist China too!]

The Wounded Knee Massacre involved Gun Confiscation (see Wikipedia). Once the Government employees confiscated most of the guns from the Sioux, an argument and a gunshot happened; the Government employees subsequently fired at the recently disarmed Sioux.

To bring the Massacre into today’s political events; maybe, honest Americans should ~never allow the government employees to start confiscating ~all the guns.
When faced with someone arguing for the supposed benefits of gun grabbing, it might be possible to hold the mirror of the Wounded Knee Massacre up to their arguments. [Expect a bug-eyed, screaming response!]

Gun Grabbers and the Government employees can end up doing terrible things after they grab the guns. [Wounded Knee Massacre type of events occur all over the world because of the evil Gun Grabbers.]

Of course the argument would only work with a reasonable person. Just eyeballing some of the Gun Grabbers now days, I believe a lot of them are kooks verging on the need for a strait-jacket. = To me at least, Kooky Pelosi could easily have decided to grabbed the guns back in 1890, and then ordered the Hotchkiss Mountain Guns to open fire [on anyone that didn’t support her political ideas].

That was not 100% accurate. The army at Wounded Knee had not confiscated the guns but indeed the army was concerned that the Indians had guns. Their chief was arguing for war and they had left their reservation with the intent to join another larger group of Indians to prepare for war. The Indians did have guns when the battle started, they had not been disarmed.

The actual point of my comment was NOT about the Wounded Knee Massacre in of itself. I said, “A comment ~tangent to the Wounded Knee Massacre.”

It’s obvious from History itself; Bad things often happen to people, when they are disarmed, by ‘following orders’ and turning over all their guns to the government employees.

Gun Grabbers are responsible for the Wounded Knee Massacre. … Plus, it seems the Gun Grabbers are behind other massacres too. Mao, Stalin, and Hitler are the Poster Boys for Gun Grabbers.

I am sympathetic to your point about gun grabbers but I don’t think it does your cause any good to conflate that with this (Wounded Knee) example. The Indians were confined to a reservation because they fought a war and lost and that was the terms of their peace. The government wasn’t “gun grabbing” when they tried to stop the Indians from opening up a new war they were trying to prevent another Indian war.

I happen to think, the Wounded Knee Massacre is a good example of the Gun Grabbers in action.

The United States Government holds its own soldiers, and the people of enemy countries accountable for ~how they conduct a war. … The enemy countries are also held accountable for how they treat their own citizens.

The Wounded Knee Massacre is a done deal. The dead are Judged by God.

We see now days, the people who dislike ~America will use the Wounded Knee Massacre, as a cudgel to beat on America.

The problem is that in the case of Wounded Knee there was a war and the losing side agreed to peace which allowed them to have guns suitable for hunting but not to leave the reservation with the guns intending to restart the war. So your comparison is faulty. It would be the equivalent to saying that U.S. forces who signed the treaty with Japan were gun grabbers.

There are real gun grabbers who want our guns and by conflating these various things you weaken and dilute your argument.
