I guess I am from another planet, but Nutella is a new thing for me. How long can it reasonably go past the “Best By” date? Thinking not of a long term thing. Am I correct?

Your best bet would be the smell and visual test. You should be fine for several days after the “best buy” date since that is different than the “expiration date”. It won’t stay long term due to it having oil in it and that will go rancid.

@ Dan/ Just Some Guy…funny Nutella was a featured product AND that you should ask about it’s longevity. I happened to find a large jar of it that had been pushed back on the shelves…it’s coming up on two years past “expiration” but I am still enjoying it! Had some last week and was thinking how well it has held up! (Probably opened it last fall…I don’t eat a lot of sugar/sweets and dear husband isn’t a fan of hazelnuts.) As I am getting past halfway, i see I should have stirred it up as gravity is doing it’s thing and it is much thicker at the bottom, (like peanut butter gets if it is not used in a couple months.) So…it’s got a longer, “still tastes” shelf life than _i_ expected. YMMV

Fructose + carbs marketed to seem healthy. You might be better off without nutella.

I’m surprised you would recommend the Coleman foreign made stove over the Partner Steel stove made in Idaho. It is a much better stove and made in the USA. ^[25]

Thanks for bring this company to light. I’ve never heard of them. I’m not certain of your claim about Coleman though. The P.S. Stove company may use foreign products to manufacture whereas Coleman looks to be 100% American.

Agree wholeheartedly! Anytime you can support Americans and home grown manufacturing of any scale here at home, even if it costs a few bucks more, we are much better off. Supporting your neighbors means they will be in a position to support you. Plus you get to stick your finger in the eye of the Chinese as well as the corporations that ship jobs overseas, for savings of labor primarily but also due to increasing regulations (thank the gov for that). Their only concern is the bottom line. A sound economy relies not only on fiscal responsibility but sound principles, among which are moral principles.

The Yugoslavian video is a timely warning of where our country is in its struggle. To not learn from history is to repeat it. Every election going forward could be our last.

After watching the video, I have mixed feelings. The woman seems to think that Trump will save us. That is typical statist thinking, that the gov’t, in this case embodied by Donald Trump will come to the rescue. I mistrust that approach.

I did find two gems, from different parts of the program: “We were brainwashed into the story that we the people are the enemies of each other.”

“Your true enemies want you to hate each other and kill each other.”

I note these ideas when I think of someone in the same basic situation that I am as “the other”. That kind of thinking serves those who want us in chains.

Excellent recommendations, JWR. Dinesh D’Souza and Mark Levin are bringing important messages to the country. They are also skilled writers, and their works are substantive.

Related to these recommendations, a note about Dinesh D’Souza. His prosecution was one of the early indicators of the persecution coming and the rampant and outrageous abuse we see today. ^[27]

We would also suggest that the SB consider Ann Coulter’s Treason. Ann is a controversial figure (and I am not always in agreement with her). Having said that… Treason is an exceptional read. I hope JWR will be able to link it and benefit from sales.

I am personally thankful for JWR’s selection of these readings because these potentially benefit both the SB and our tireless editors, and they help to support the writers whose voices and messages are more important than ever before.

This leads me to the matter of both censorship and personal support.

Your reading of articles related to censorship in support of voices the Communist Left is trying to silence shows support, and the content of these may help further develop your own thinking and conclusions. I would focus in today on the medical doctors whose live feed was interrupted related to discussion of successful treatment of COVID-19, and whose website (America’s Frontline Doctors) was taken down (shows expired). These doctors are trying to save literal lives. State boards are threatening action against doctors who use these medications, and some pharmacists appear to be refusing to fill these prescriptions. Again, I would say it… These doctors are trying to save literal lives.

Off topic question: My wife & I are preparing to move into a new home, which has a gravel driveway about 80-90 feet long. I plan to buy a riding lawn mower & get a snow blade to use in the winter. I’ve never used a snow blade or had a gravel driveway. When I envision myself pushing the snow, I wonder if there’s a trick to prevent pushing a bunch of gravel along w/ the snow? I’d prefer to leave most of the gravel in place on the driveway, rather than piling up in places next to the driveway. Any advice?

I plowed snow on a gravel driveway with an ATV for years. It’s unavoidable to plow up some gravel, but you can put spacers on the bottom of the plow frame and keep the blade off the actual surface by whatever distance you like — typically 1-3 inches. Yes, you’ll leave some snow behind , but you’ll also leave the gravel. But good luck using a riding lawnmower for the task; they’re generally not up to it unless you have very little snow to deal with. An ATV would be much better. Even better: Kubota BX 2380!! (Ask me how I know.)

Part of owning a flag lot with gravel driveway is box scraping. I do it with a 420 cc ATV. A truck works too. DR makes an inexpensive box scraper tractor stores will have heavier duty ones.
