Oh you are so sweet! Thank you for thinking of me. I’ve been a bit melancholy, my Marine Corp son was deployed to Kuwait last week and then my Marine Corp daughter was moving some ordinance on base and the 700 lb container shifted and fell on her hand breaking her left pinky so she is in a cast for several weeks. She’s very homesick and they are still not able to go on leave due to Covid -19.
I’m also trying to balance all of the current events and I’m having a hard time not being angry, sad, afraid, Ect
Things that I am extremely thankful for are, my little garden seems to be doing well so far (I’m inexperienced with this but I’m reading up and trying), my mom and dad and doing well despite everything going on, my husband is wonderful, we have a full pantry, best of all is I finally received my Freeze Dryer on Friday!! I’m so excited to learn how to use it. My husband is building me a cart to put it on (it weighs nearly 200 lbs).
The weather here has been really hot and only one day of rain.
I hope you are doing well also! You brought a smile to my face and got me out of the mood I was in. I so appreciate the friendship of you and the others here. I’ve always had such a hard time making friends as I usually end up getting burned by people because I’m too nice and they take advantage of me.
Thank you so much for thinking of me! I wish this was a different world where we could somehow have a “Survival Blog family reunion “ or something so that we could all actually meet each other.

Sorry to hear of your families challenges. Life is like that sometimes. However, I’m glad to hear that your garden is doing well. When I read your post about gardening I immediately thought of this verse:
Genesis 2:8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
I just had to share it with you. Gardening was the perfect job for the perfect pair (both man and woman) and I have enjoyed it since age 3.
A “Survival Blog family reunion” is something I’ve thought about myself. It sure would be neat to have one, however there are a lot of miles that separate many of us so I guess for now this online forum will have to do.

RKRGRL68, Thank you for taking the time to write. I had a feeling something was up. It is sooo good to hear from you, let alone get an explanation. I get it. Makes total sense,
your son deploying and all the concerns there. Last Friday, I babysat so my son & daughter-in-law could go to the doctor together, as he has concerning symptoms. I was overcome with sorrow at the thought of losing him, and felt deep sorrow at the possibility that God might take him home. After a while, the Lord comforted my heart that He knows what He is doing… Duh, Krissy. I will pray for your son when I pray for my son!
Your daughters accident, oh, my word. Pain! Anything squashed is very painful, and it certainly doesn’t help improve homesickness. Yes, will pray specifically for her when I pray for my daughter.
I’m the same as you, as far as the being angry and sad at current events.
Today, I felt afraid too! Thank you for sharing that. It was somehow comforting to know I wasn’t the only one.
BTW, I would not describe myself as sweet, but thank you for thinking that! At each passing day, as news gets worse and worse, I feel more and more like an old mama grizzly bear, and no one better mess with my cubs, or the cubs of anyone I care about.
There are two types of people: givers and takers. Neither is good or bad, and we are attracted to the opposite. This would explain how you are naturally attracted to friends who are takers, and you get burned out on giving so much. I am just like you, an extreme giver. Understanding this and finding balance is what will be helpful to us both. It is something I have been working on.
The book, “The Givers and The Takers,” by Cris Evatt & Bruce Feld is very
enlightening.
Also, I hope you enjoy your gardening and new freeze dryer. Oh, and good news! I don’t want anything from you, lol. Whenever you feel up to it, I love reading your posts.

I pray for protection and healing. Remind that young jarhead in Kuwait to drink more water and swallow electrolytes. It was seldom reported how many Marines in Vietnam were disabled for several days due to dehydration and electrolyte depletion. I’ve heard it from guys who saw it happen.
I hope you kep yourdelf well, too.
And Krissy, I appreciate anyone who speaks to being afraid. People have a romanticized image of Marines as never being afraid. Sigh. Unfortunately, the biggest fear I encountered in the Corps was the fear of admitting our fear. Unmanly, ya know.
Fear is our helpmate in noticing what is real.

RKRGRL, Don’t worry too much about your son. Kuwait is not dangerous(except dehydration and bugs). Just do not be like my friend after Desert Shield and have a Princess follow him home(she appeared on his doorstep with nothing but a suitcase of jewelry),she was Very High Maintenance(flew to Paris to have lunch with her Mother regularly).
