JWR’s Recommendations of the Week:

Here are JWR’s Recommendations of the Week for various media and tools of interest to SurvivalBlog readers. This week the focus is on versatile tools. (See the Gear section.)

Books:Holy Bible: KJV Giant Print Thumb Index Edition: Brown (King James Bible) [1]

o  o  o

2019 Official Red Book of United States Coins – Spiral Bound [2]

o  o  o

Hank Reinhardt’s Book of Knives: A Practical and Illustrated Guide to Knife Fighting [3]. JWR’s Proviso:  Be forewarned that this book is not for the squeamish!

Movies & Television:

The Survivors [4] (1983). “Robin Williams and Walter Matthau star as two unemployed men who find themselves the target of a hitman who’s out-of-work himself.”  The survivalist parody is good for a few chuckles.  Available on DVD, or for free streaming via Amazon Prime. Note: There should have been a special academy award for “Best Supporting Valmet”, for this film!

o  o  o

Alaska Spirit of the Wild – Narrated by Charlton Heston [5]. Available on DVD or for free streaming to those with Amazon Prime.

o  o  o

Bowhunting Basics for Deer / Archery-Beginners Guide [6]

Vlogs and Instructional Videos:

Chad at IV8888: How To Measure the Twist Rate of a Barrel [7]

o  o  o

The TSA: Or How to Feel Unwelcome in Your Own Country [8] Note:  Don’t  don’t miss his warning about smartphone biometric security, starting at the 16 minute mark.

o o o

From Garand Thumb: The HK 416 [9]

Gear (Versatile Tools):

Today, I’d like to mention some versatile tools, These are all “Made in USA” hand tools that I’ve found to be particularly versatile and practical:

Universal 60 Degree Thread File [10]. This is an indispensable tool for repairing banged-up threads, and for finishing bolts and threaded stock that you’ve shortened. I eventually decided to buy a second one. (I also carry one of these in my vehicle tool kit.)

o  o  o

Case Chamfer Tool [11]. Although these were designed for use by handloaders, I’ve found that they are quite handy for use in a variety of home and ranch mechanical projects.

o  o  o

Fence Pliers [12]. If you only carry one tool in your saddlebag or ATV cargo bin, then this is it!

o  o  o

Leatherman – Wave Plus with Cap Crimper Multitool [13], Black. This tool is a must for everyday carry.

Gman check out knife vs gun on youtube. Funker Tactical illustrates the results very well.
Have a great day, may God bless you and your family.
