Preparedness Notes for Sunday – June 17, 2018

June 17th is the birthday of musician Red Foley [1] (born, 1910, died September 19, 1968). His patriotic song Smoke on the Water [2] topped the music charts for 13 weeks in late 1944 and early 1945, and charted for 24 weeks. This song, which describes the doom of tyrants, would be considered quite politically incorrect these days.

June 17th is also the birthday of novelist John Ross [3], who was born in 1957.

I always associated the song SMOKE ON THE WATER with Deep Purple. Different generation I guess!

Great song “Smoke on the Water”

Made the mistake of listening to the next song on YouTube by Red Foley called Old Shep. What a tear jerker.
